i played this as a kid. the updated artwork is nice. it somehow feels a little more unintentionally fever dreamy than the original. however, i would have been totally fine if they kept all the original art. strange that achievements are only in-game and not functional as steam achievements. oh well. a fun trip down memory lane!

I am so glad I finally found this game! I had to google "little blue characters in an adventure, puzzle and logic 90's pc game", Just to find out what it was actually called. I used to book out my primary school library desktop just to play this for one of the break time sessions (and you had to get in early to book this computer that had the game on it). I was so happy when I found out that someone had remade it for modern computer running systems and that it was available in steam! I also had no idea that there were 2 sequels to this original game. It would be cool if they remastered those sequels and put the on steam too as expansion games to this. This is a fun and challenging game. It isn't so simple like new gen. kid games that's for sure! It definitely makes you learn patience so you can think through the puzzles on each level.

This was such a memory from my childhood that I sought it out to replay it. It's exactly as I remember it! Cute characters, funny voice acting, easy puzzle based games. I purchased this purely for the nostalgia and it was worth it! I'd be interested to hear what games are similar to this one or recommended by players.

I can't believe all but one of my Zoombinis DIED This is a really really nice remake of the original classic brains game! The Very Very Hard puzzles are still awful.

This game is a very good example of how a game can be educational and fun at the same time, maybe the best example I can think of. This remaster looks very nice (for the most part) but I have a couple of gripes; There seem to be some missing or broken sound files, especially regarding the 'walking' noises that the zoombinis used to have. Maybe they were removed intentionally but I did find myself missing them. The overall zoombini design is close enough to the original for it to translate well but they did change the proportions of the zoombinis for some reason, they also changed purple noses to pink ones, changed one of the eye shapes into something very different, re-arranged the order of the traits. Lots of little changes that don't really 'matter' but it is curious that they felt the need to change any of that. The updated graphics seem a little out of place in some areas, where there are also unupdated graphics used (This was most glaring for me at the Hotel and the Mudwall). Each unique zoombini has a twin (2 zoombinis can exist with identical traits). You could, in the original, set sail with 8 sets of twins (which is just very useful for most of the puzzles in the game), you no longer can in this remaster. This DOES make the first leg of the journey slightly more challenging that it would normally be, but you can manually re-arrange your party of zoombinis at the first rest stop so it really only affects the first leg of the journey. There are a couple of very pernicious bugs; 1) The Crystal Cavern (difficulty 2 and above) - sometimes you will be unable to place or pick up the crystals to move them around, there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to when it starts happening and the only way I've reliably been able to rectify the problem is to remove all the cyrstals from the puzzle and re-place them. This is an annoyance but is mostly time-consuming 2) The Bubble Wonder Abyss (difficulty 3? and above) - It's possible for the game to generate a puzzle that is impossible to get your entire party of 16 zoombinis through safely. The whole idea of these puzzles are that, if you don't make any mistakes, you can get everyone though. You're not supposed to be required to leave anyone behind. Whatever changes they made to this remaster broke something in the puzzle generation code for this puzzle. If you quit the game before leaving the puzzle, it will re-generate a puzzle on reload, but there's no guarantee that the new puzzle will actually be fully-solvable or not. 3) The game has actually crashed on me twice in the 11 hours I have on record, both times while trying to load the final puzzle (Bubble Wonder Abyss). Thankfully, the game should keep your progress and take you back to the puzzle upon reload but the fact that this has happened twice, in the same spot, in such a short period of time is very concerning (especially because this is unlikely to get fixed). All-in-all, if you played this game as a kid, you'll get your money's worth for the nostalgia alone. If you've never played this game but you like logic puzzles, you will probably enjoy this but be warned of the issues above. I would say that if you can look past the bugs, this is well worth the price for any child or lover of logic puzzles. But the bugs can be pretty annoying.
