Probably the best story game I have ever played, the story, the gameplay, the feel, everything is just perfect. I beat the game many many times and I will do it many more times, never gets old. Zanzarah 2 would be dream come true, literally.

I just finished the game and it was quite an experience. If you're looking for Pokemon version of Quake with Faeries where you play as a female protagonist of an early 2000's point and click adventure game this is the only game that fits that description. The presentation is absolutely lovely and full of personality the music, especially the title theme is beautiful and the gameplay quite solid as well. You can go pretty much anywhere you feel like, after the prologue in the fairy garden you're free to explore every area you can walk into. There's loads of places you can only access after finding a particular key item/ability but it's designed very organically and doesn't have artificial stopping points "because story doesn't want you to be there" and if there's no more things to interact with, you're done. It's very good old timey jRPG-ish design(despite the game being made in Russia) The only real problem I had with the game really is how horribly unbalanced the game is, which can luckily be "fixed" using cheatcodes (gold, crystal, heal, deckon) and buying golden carrots to make leveling very quick. it's not an ideal solution but it does make it much more palatable in this day and age as grinding for levels is otherwise a chore. The game can be easily played on modern computers in very if you follow a guide posted on steam, it involves installing a voodoo wrapper what also lets you play the game in high resolutions without making the UI only legible for ants (like how it is with most 3D accelerated games). I personally played it in 2560X1440 so basically 4X3 version of 2K and had no issues at all. Also while the game technically "crashes" then you alt-tab when you reopen the minimized application it reloads from the last checkpoint which is the last transition screen. the game saves automatically on each transition but you can also manually save when you get some treasure or level up and you're afraid of getting killed or falling to your death.

There are some shortcomings with this game on newer systems. It's laggy when in options moving the mouse. The storyline is great. And for me personally a lot of youth sentiment with this game.

Look up how to fix the graphics and stuttering but otherwise it's a pretty fun world to explore. Nauseating if you suffer from virtual sickness.

I loved this game as a kid and am so happy to find it here on Steam, and looking really good for a game of its age! It did lag a fair bit on menus and dialog boxes but this was easily fixed with dgVoodoo (see https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1203967862), which also allows you to adjust the scaling mode without manually editing any files.
