If you're looking to play this game, it's more than likely you're disappointed by the lack of campaign or single player content in Master Duel. With that said, if you want a modern-ish yugioh game(only came out 4 years ago so it's new enough), are super casual like myself, don't care about playing online and just want to play against the cpu, this is the game for you. If you want to play against the cpu: Legacy of the Duelist If you want to play online: Master Duel

If you want to learn "modern" yugioh, this is the game for you. you won't be pressured by the players who combo like crazy, but you will be playing at your own pace. Now, why do I say modern? is because even though we are still using the same staples that we do in the current meta (ash blossom, impermanence, etc...) you are not going to see the newest archetypes that konami is promoting atm.

If you're a casual Yu-Gi-Oh! player like me, you'll love this game. It's the best single player Yu-Gi-Oh! I've played so far (i really just go by the library of cards available and this one hits pretty much every button for me). I've tried Master Duel but I don't feel like sweating in every match in order to get some decks built, just isn't for me really. The visuals. OH the visuals. I usually just deal with it in a lot of games, but these are minimal and disappointing. There's less engagement with the visuals than a GBA YGO game. The summon animations are too long, unskippable, and sometimes looked like they were pushed out halfway through making them (I know Blue-Eyes White Dragon doesn't have hair or much of a varied color palette but they somehow managed to make him look naked and bald. Impressive). Speaking of long animations (looking at you, Salamangreat Heatleo), why isn't there an adjustable speed setting for matches? Or a skip option for the animations? I've been finding myself using CE and speed-hacking to 2x-3x speed just to get the animations and duels over with faster. Going back to 1x speed feels like I'm on speed. I wish they'd slowly add more cards to this honestly and keep it mostly up to date but there's still plenty here to keep me occupied for a long time I'm sure. Also, if you like building a bunch of decks, pay attention to how many custom slots you have left for your decks cause I ran out QUICK. Needs at least 30 times more slots for me. The UI for making decks is...50/50. While I appreciate the detailed filters, the UI in general in this game is wonky af. Not to mention the infamous "Activate the effect of a card?" that pops up every time you or your opponent has a coherent thought or some dead skin cells fall off. Oh and the default hotkeys are trash IMO. The Break/Pause button it wants you to use for stuff is used way too much in the deckbuilding process and its the most annoying part of making decks. BTW this game goes up to about 2020 in terms of card availability iirc, I could be wrong. Keep that in mind as well when looking up deck builds. Fights are pretty varied in terms of difficulty like with the other YGO games I've played, some opponents are cake (opening campaign fights in DM and GX) and the sweatiest for me are easily the duels that introduce the Link Monster system. I never got around to really liking the Link System even though i've figured out some of it. Overall, I still love this game even though it feels 80% finished. My rating for this game is an 8/10, but if the visuals, animations and UI were polished and fixed before release, this would easily be a 9.5/10 for me. TL;DR UI = Makes my teeth itch Animations = Makes me squint in fear Deckbuilding = Cured my Pica and Eczema Fights = Varied and entertaining, like the Spice Girls. Overall = Good Enough, like IHOP

Campaign is very entertaining and not like modern Yu-Gi-Oh. Would definitely recommend for Boomer Yu-Gi-Oh fans like me who grew up with original Yu-Gi-Oh.

This has gotta be one of the best and worst yugioh games out there and I sincerely mean that. On one hand the interface is TERRIBLE and so bare-bones its like the least amount of effort for a "simulator" then it lacks QoL things like speed up or animation skipping (Please enjoy the animation for summoning Decode Talker every time you summon it in any way). This is a game where all you do is navigate menus so for that to be so poor/lackluster is a shame. On the other hand its a premium game, you technically have access to every card that this game had access to you just have to earn them. It still has that fun feeling of opening up card packs and can be played offline with a variety of ai to duel with varying strategies so its fun at least imo. I swear to god Master Duel has spoiled me man. If they ever make another one of these in the Master Duel framework it will be the best yugioh game ever made. Ultimately I got this game for 10 bucks and understanding how this game is 40 is quite frankly a insane ask. If youre new to yugioh or returning this is a better place to start.
