A short but sweet experience- while seemingly a little shallow by itself, when paired with the themes and ideas presented in Who's Lila (the developer's subsequent title) then this game becomes an interesting piece to think about. If you know what a UIW-AM is, it's interesting to think of Tamagotchi and realize that it, in fact, was a UIW-AM! Even if it wasnt a story necessarily... Decent game, good horror, but part of a *great* bit of philosophy

A fun little game that has many grim endings for this poor T-Gotchi gal. Maybe you can fix her. I could not.

Deeply unsettling. I went into this game knowing about the horror/sexual content tags, so I guess idk what I expected from this. It's a very short game about what if a "real" person was a tomagotchi, a virtual pet. I thought it'd be cute or fun, with an added stress to keep the tomagotchi healthy. Turns out, the life of a tomagotchi is pretty depressing. This was an interesting experience, I feel really dirty after getting multiple endings, none of which are happy. If there was one thing I'd change, it's a real-time system, like real tomagotchi games or animal crossing. I don't like how short the days are and that I'm forced to neglect t-gotchi. I'd like to interact with it in the morning, before work and such, typing this out now has me realizing how weird that sounds, but I guess that's kind of the point, isn't it?

Unless a game is straight up bad I don't click the "Don't Recommend" option because it's just too brutal to an indie game's numbers. However, with that being said, I wish I also didn't have to click "Recommend" on this one. I will, but I wish I didn't have to. This is one of those games that I, personally, think should be free. I happily paid the money for it and I'd gladly do it again, but I bought it when it was on a HEAVY sale and even then some people might think I spent too much money on it. My reason for saying that is this game feels much more like a proof of concept than a fully fledged game. There are achievements and multiple endings (9 if you get the secret ending) but none of those things make the game feel more fleshed out and the reason is because there's really only like 2 things that can you can do in game; be nice to her or be abusive to her. Sure, you can be abusive in different ways, but at the end of the day it's all very surface level. And that's another issue honestly. The gameplay, dialogue, and story are all intensely surface level, yet the plot would have you believe there is something more to it. I'm really not sure why - the game could have just been a little abusive pet sim and moved on but it insisted on going the Undertale/DDLC route and broke the 4th wall with it's MC. That's all well and good when done right, but then it went nowhere with it at all. (Small spoilers for those that care but) Like there are moments where the MC girl is talking about being able to delete all your files and calls you by your real name even if you don't give it to her, similar to DDLC, or there's a moment where she's seemingly "left alone" and you watch her walk off into... heaven? Out of the T-Gotchi device? Back to the real world? It's so vague you're not sure, but it leads itself to the idea that she's a real person under the facade of the game, right? But then the final ending has the MC telling you she's just a program all over again and none of this even mattered so... the fuck? Yeah so idk - honestly I'm not even really sure what the game was going for. One moment she seems like a girl trapped there as a program, the next she seems like she had a life before this and maybe even lived in the real world or another one, and then it just goes back to telling you she's a program again. I don't know what the world wants me to believe, I don't know what the MC wants me to believe, and I don't even know what the point of playing was in the first place. I can't do anything to change the outcome and any time I do anything it's just the most degenerate thing I could possibly think of. I mean, one ending is literally just feeding the MC until she gets so fat she can't even breathe anymore and dies. Just felt... strange? Maybe I'm having a different experience as a woman? Not sure. I usually don't try to bring that stuff up because I don't think gender should have any bearing on these things but.. my perception is certainly different as a woman playing the woman abuse game so take it with whatever grain of salt you'd like. I really just wanted more from this. I don't mind at all the abusive storyline, but when it felt like there was no payoff to anything the characters were setting up I just felt bad for even picking it up in the first place. Even the little demon looking UI didn't have a payoff, which I was really hoping for; especially since it talks to you after every T-Gotchi iteration. And listen, I know I'm saying a lot of bad about this game, but I just had some pretty high expectations for the concept and they weren't really paid off at all. I still really love the concept, the number of endings is great and I love the inclusion of achievements. The sound design was good and the character is SO cute it's crazy! Shocked to bits the VTuber model is the weird anime version of her and not her intensely cute low-poly form but I digress. She's very cute and all the assets looked great. There's even this small easter egg where you can somehow load into getting gravestones all around you? Not sure why that's even in the game as it had no bearing on the MC or her reactions, but I liked it nonetheless. So I donno, the more I type the more it feels like I should give this a "Do not recommend" but here I am, still giving it a thumbs up and telling you this: Buy it on a heavy discount and play it for the proof of concept it you do at all. I really think this could be something special, it just isn't yet. Hell, maybe you'll buy it, play it, and be so inspired to play a better version you'll make it yourself? If you do, my DMs are very open.
