Mixed reviews is outrageous This game is incredible, truly amazing But people are so tiktok brained that they aren't willing to put in the minimal effort (aka reading) in order to learn the game

Important tips for the new: The user agreement only applies to people in China. It doesn't appear at all unless you started the game in Chinese. There's a way to insert cards, which is explained in a loading screen tip, but I'll repeat it here. To insert a card, hover it over the slot you want it in, and wait for the other cards to shake, then drag it slightly left or right to indicate which way to push the other cards, before releasing. There's a lot of guides you can read, and many of them are on Steam. In the Yi Xian discord, there's a pinned link to an organized list.

It's not pay to win people. At all. There are legitimite issues with this game - the end-game high-level stuff tends to be a little too rock-paper-scissory, for instance - but not it being pay-to-win. And I know other reviews have mentioned the usual "Oh you can unlock everything through gameplay" stuff every FTP game says about itself, and this just complete misleads new players. You don't just unlock everything through gameplay, you do it *very* fast. I had all the side-jobs and every character I really cared to have at 40ish hours played. And I only had played the solo-mode up to that point. It's really, really, *really* not PTW.

Very balanced games, almost all builds are viable. There is definetly a learning curve, beginner players might be overwhelmed by the sheer number of possibilities at first, or be annoyed at how simple it can look like, but I think after spending a 100 hours of gaming, you will realize that to win, you must use every small advantage you can get. The qualities of a character + the RNG you can give, you must constantly check what other are doing, and try to either win vs them or at least reduce the amount of damage you take. The matchmaking seems balanced.

I really enjoy this game. it has beautiful graphics, a very elegant art style and a not too shabby gameplay loop. I see other people commenting about broken combos and luck, but personally I haven't feel that yet at all. I feel like all of the games are interesting and have actual choices for each round. Considering the drought of good games these days I would say this game is 100% worth it. Regarding monetization I think they went with the best route. You can either grind the game to unlock characters (unlocking even 1 character per sect (game style essentially) is super enough to be competitive) or you can pay about 5$ per month to get access to all heroes and some additional goodies which is a great way to support the developers. As a gamer who played all card games that ever was, I would say this is up there among all of the daily login p2w clown fiesta.
