When I first played this game I was terrible at first since I wasn't used to the gameplay and the grinding until I played it a second time beating it for the first time. This game was made by the game developers who did The Call of Juarez and the Dead Island series. I never expected the game devs to do a rally game. I will start with the positives and then the negatives. The positive is that you can choose a car and upgrade it with the cash you get from doing events which I like. I wish more rally games give you options on what type of upgrades you want for your car. You start with slow cars that look like car brands that everyone recognizes but don't have the logo for copyright reasons to save money. Certain races give you new cars and require the type of car you need for an event. When you play it at first you got to grind a lot on the first few races. After a while, you get money very easily and you don't have to worry about doing past races to upgrade your car for the newer races. There are different kinds of events in this one. One where it's an exhibition race, the second is a race without barriers, and the last is a race that's circuit race that only happens once in the game. The last one is the longest race in the game. Some races require me to use a GPS that I have to buy from the parts store because the night races are very hard for me to tell where everything is. The graphics look pretty good for the time. Looks like the kind of graphics you would see for the time. You can set the resolution by going to the game files and setting it up on Notepad to the resolution you find best. I see mine to full had and 144 hz without a problem. Here's a tip if you gonna play the game. For parts start with the gearbox first since they'll give you an edge on the races. For repairing your car just reset the race since it will save you money If you mess up on one. Certain tracks use certain tires that are best for the tracks running from mud to snow. Just look at the tire section of the parts and you'll find one that suits best for that terrain. You don't have to 100 percent the game to complete the campaign but I just did for fun and I'm very glad I did that. Now for my dislikes. This game's physics isn't that good for the time since it's unpredictable on what could happen to your car. Try to avoid large jumps so it doesn't get damaged. The navigator icon that shows up on your screen blocks the view up ahead making it hard to tell which place I have to go to requiring me to use a GPS. The tires cost a lot of money if you repair them. Just repair them when you need to not when their at 20 percent then do since you have to pay full price for the tires you paid for. There are parts of the game where random pauses happen but it's nothing game-breaking. Overall this game is really good from what I played. Pretty underrated game from what I played since it has game mechanics that I wish I would see in newer rally games like choosing the kinds of upgrades you want for your car. Best to get it on sale to check it out since It took me 9 hours to 100 percent it and with the sequel it's worth getting with a bundle since it's Xpand Rally 2.0. For a game worth under 2 euros, it's pretty worth getting If you're curious about overlooked rally games. I give this game a 7 out of 10. I hope my review makes you think twice about getting the game. Have a good day.

Played this when I was a kid, can't believe I finally found it. It's not the best rally game you'll find, but it's fun to play every once in a while.

Xpand Rally is a dollar on sale, and I still had more fun with this than I ever got from Need For Speed Heat. There is something about old racing games, they have much more passion and just feel better. They have personality, it feels real, I honestly felt that NFS Heat was almost just an asset flip in comparison. I don't care for new graphics, that's not my priority, my priority is having fun and playing a good game. Just because it's from 2006 does not mean it deserves to be shrug aside like some expired donuts. I would rather go dumpster diving for old racing games that I spend 3-15 hours on, then playing some EA bloatware for 60 hours.

I rate this game, as it's a cool little indy rally game with really quite nice speech, UI and visuals. The handling on dirt surfaces is challenging but also there's a feeling of realism to it. The problem for me is the tarmac handling. It feels wrong for some reason, and is not fun to drive. That being said it's not so bad that you can't get around the course. I'm leaning towards a positive review because it's definitely worth a look on sale.

Fun game. I only have two criticisms, and it is partially due to being an old game in an old engine. 1. No ultrawide support. Not much to be done about it. 2. Car controls aren't great for a controller, I could do better in a 30 year old manual garbage civic than using a controller on some of these rally cars. That said, set the realism on and put it in manual and it simulates well considering it is an outdated game. These two issues do not ruin the game. I played in windowed and still have fun with it. But as a driver, it is frustrating to know what gear I need to be in but not having it work the way it should. Part of that is tuning, and part of it is simply getting used to a game that does not simulate physics flawlessly. Again, a me thing, and not a reason for down vote. This was fun to test. And that is important for a racing game. I worked on ratios and options to get it the way I liked. It was fun. Most racing games I play in automatic because manual gets frustrating when I don't have a clutch and stick, but this one made it fun to explore. It made it fun to think about and tweak options. And I am thankful for that.
