This game has unlocked something within me that I didn’t know existed. I am consumed by an all consuming childlike whimsy that no other game has managed to deliver. Worms Crazy Golf has been my unending descent into pure, unfiltered euphoria. Every moment feels like a high, every session a pulse of elation I can't shake off.

It's Worms , but golf ! This game has all the style and flavor of Worms World Party , but with a golf mission. The hole layout gets zanier and zanier, up to a "theme park" styled course that is really outlandish. Playing through the solo campaign, along with its sporadic "challenge" stages, earns coins that can be used to upgrade your worm's equipment. In typical worms fashion, different types of shots will be at your disposal: lead ball, parachute ball, anti-grav ball, bouncy ball, etc. The game's shot mechanics have that excellent Worms "feel". As much as I adore this game, it has a couple of serious drawbacks. The first is that it is short. There are only four, 18-hole courses. I really wish there were four more! Additionally, alas, there is only hot-seat multiplayer. It's great fun to play that way, but I sometimes wish that this could be played online. All-in-all this is a fantastic Worms game that I somehow missed upon release. If you're a fan of the Worms series, and you like golf or miniature golf, then this game is a slam dunk. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this twist on the tried-and-true gameplay.

I’m not quite sure why this game didn’t get the warm reception it deserved at the time since after playing it is quite enjoyable to say the least. It’s a competent golf spin off to the Worms franchise that features 3 (or 4 courses depending on whether you’ve purchased the carnival DLC) of varying difficulty. In each of their 18 holes there are 4 goals focused on exploration or traversing it effectively in order to get a hole in one. As the gameplay is further developed by varying unlockable power ups such as a parachute or a gravity reversal, there are also challenges which go from getting the best shot to the green to maintaining the ball moving as much as possible. With this puzzle gameplay comes a pleasant to look at presentation with fluidly animated sprites and models as well as customizable hats and balls which are rewarded as you unlock them. Even though the soundtrack isn’t super catchy, it’s decent enough to not be distracting and fits each scenario quite well. Furthermore, in terms of performance while it can suffer from a hiccup every now and then, the menus and frequent course restarts load and run decently well. However, despite the game featuring a multiplayer mode, it isn’t as interesting nor accessible as it features the game courses one need to unlock in single player mode, leading to an unfair advantage. It’s also local only, although the remote play functionality can make it easily circumventable. In any case, clocking in 2 hours of playtime while going only for courses or 10 more for full completion, I’d say the offer is quite solid.
