Worms is the classic game that started the whole franchise. It's a turn-based strategy game where teams of worms fight each other using crazy weapons like the banana bomb. The last team standing wins. The game definitely shows its age (released in 1995). The graphics and controls are both pretty rough now. I ran into some issues with the language settings too. The Steam page says it only supports English, and even though there's a language option in the settings, it doesn't work. You have to rename some .sfx files to change the voice language if you really want to. On the technical side, it runs smoothly on DOSBox and works reliably (at least for me). I only played against the computer, and while it worked without issues, the AI can be annoyingly accurate. It’s often way too precise and lands shots that feel unfair. Apparently, the remote play feature is broken, so if you’re planning to play online with friends, that might be a problem. At least the voice lines are still entertaining though. I enjoyed going back to it for the nostalgia factor, but honestly, if you're new to Worms, the newer games are much better options.

Worms 1 is the primordial soup from which all wormy chaos evolved. Tiny pixel worms, turn-based carnage, and explosions that could crash your PC if too many pixels flew at once. Controls? Clunky. Aiming? Guesswork. UI? Ancient runes. But none of that mattered in the '90s—because back then, blowing up your friend with a poorly lobbed banana bomb was revolutionary. There’s barely any physics, maps are just weird blobs, and weapon variety is limited—but the core idea was solid enough to spawn a franchise that’s still crawling today. Play it now only if you’re feeling nostalgic—or want to remember how far we’ve come since “press space to wildly overcharge a bazooka and regret everything.”

Look, we all know Worms and how good it is. Im not gonna lie, I wont be playing it again when theres better versions out there like Worms Armaggedon, but this is gaming history, so you and I need to have on our libraries. Runs flawlessly on DOSBox on modern systems.

This is where it all started. The DOS game though outdated is still a treat to enjoy. Its sad that i missed to play this back then. But definitely recommended for the FUN. I also consider this to be the predecessor of Pocket Tanks. Definitely Recommended for the Nostalgia and where it all began!!!
