A legend in indie game history, World of Goo is a physics-based puzzle game about getting as many goo balls as possible into a pipe by constructing all sorts of structures (e.g. bridge) using these balls. Incredibly sophisticated physics allowing endless possibilities to solve the puzzles; Imaginative levels with optional OCD challenge often requiring mastery of the mechanics and out-of-the-box thinking; beautiful animation now remastered with high-resolution; wonderful audio design and sensational soundtracks; strange lore and world-building imbued with dark humourā€¦ This is a title to behold and pay tribute to. Even if you are not into physics/puzzle games (I am not, and I have no intention to finish the game), you should have it and see what merely two indie developers can achieve, in 2008!

I've played this for 4 hours on Steam, but probably 40 off CD-ROM on my old machine. It's perfect for any kid (or overgrown kid) that likes building things and solving puzzles. It introduces new mechanics at a good pace, it lets you plough on after a skin-of-your-teeth success or go back and try to do better, according to personality. It's fun and colourful and not too hard, and it's full of one-more-try energy. World of Goo 2 is coming in 2024. Play this first to be ready for it!
