Super awesome game. It's a collect-em-all, but also has some depth and a lot of QoL features I haven't seen before all in one place. The only bad thing is that you can't launch it directly from steam (it will crash). You have to set the two exe files (WOFF and WOFF_config) to Windows 7 compatibility mode and launch the WOFF.exe directly.

The game suffers one technical problems but does seem to be worth playing, here is a fix for the main problems at hand here: Game crashing upon launching: Go to the local files of the game, then right click WoFF.exe, go in the property tab and check the box to allow the app to be run as administrator No way to full screen: Just go in the local files once again and run WoFFconfig.exe manually from there since square enix can't be bothered to make sure that the interaction they're instructing you to proceed with in order to adjust the graphics works perfectly Honestly this is just sad, making sure that the basic functions of your program works is the very least when it comes to that sort of things, and although I have no doubt I'll enjoy the game this is something that should *NEVER* occur, especially not for a AAA production

I had only finished Final Fantasy 7 and the FF tactics games from the gba and Ds up until now (which are among my favorite games of all time), now playing World of Final fantasy i just noticed again the summoning mechanics, flashy beautifully animated sequences and characters from legendary lores, and now i think i will be playing more games of the series, is lacking the job system which is on pair with summonings to me but still amazing, it is an excellent game.

For people having crashing problems, all you need to do is go into the game folder, Right click the "WOFF.exe" Properties > Compatibility > Run as Admin. Game launches without problems. Played though the entire thing, no crashes. no missing shortcuts, no corruptions. Once over that hurdle, games pretty fun. does try a bit to hard to be funny at times with all the puns, but that's kinda the point of this one.

I found the game to be a lot better than I was expecting going into it. To be fair, I'm an adult that grew up on the franchise. While I was a kid when I first started playing Final Fantasy, I am no longer. In terms of the characters and story, it's definitely aimed at a younger audience than myself, but it's consistent with the age group I was in when I played my first Final Fantasy games. There are some serious themes, but the vast majority of the game has a decidedly non-serious tone. The fact that it incorporates major and minor champions (and enemies) from FFI-XV (and a number of the spinoffs) gives the game a lot of nostalgic appeal that may help adults overcome the cheesy juvenile nature of the game. The battle system is based on the turn-based menus of the first ten games in the franchise, (a welcome return to that classic style). Personally, I think it's one of the better games in the franchise that uses this style. As twins, the two main characters themselves have no unique playable abilities and are essentially copies of each other. They do have unique abilities pertaining to the story, but those unfortunately aren't reflected in the gameplay. The primary goal of the game is to collect monsters (known as Mirages) a la Pokemon, Monster Rancher, etc. With these mirages, you customize each of the two character's traits by "stacking" them with two other captured mirages. Although the capture method is reminiscent of Pokemon, the concept of summoning monsters or using their abilities (as a blue mage) has been with the franchise for a long time. Each mirage has a combination of unique skills and generic stat boosts that are gained by unlocking nodes on a grid (similar to Final Fantasy X). The Maxima version of the game contains over 200 unique mirages. The majority of these are categorized into similar "family" groups with palette swaps and "base/intermediate/final forms". There are numerous zones across the game, each with monsters that are immune/sensitive to specific elements. For most of the game, you'll want a wide variety of different types of mirages at your disposal in order to exploit weaknesses and defend from elemental attacks. This is particular true for characters relying on elemental damage rather than neutral physical attacks. Elemental damage is always superior to neutral damage against enemies with elemental weaknesses, but you won't get far if you're trying to bring the same fire mirage you used to clear the ice zone when you enter the fire zone. Whether or not you decide to "catch em all" is mostly a matter of how many of the achievements you want to unlock. Mirages can be divided into roughly three categories. Some are must-have "best-in-class" monsters that provide the best stats, elemental resistances or abilities. Some are generally mediocre, but are worth training to some degree to unlock the "Mirajewels" from their grids. These mirajewels can then be equipped in order to give the two main characters stats or abilities they can use independently of the original mirage. A number of mirages fall into neither of these categories, though, and are not very helpful. Using a guide to assist you while playing is recommended to help understand which mirages are worth investing in and which are not.
