This game has come a long way now that act 2 is out. I haven't finished it yet so there is at least 15-20 hours of story mode. I could also see myself playing survival mode for another 30-40 hours as is so this is worth checking out now. I played over 600 hours of Long Dark. If you're a fan of that game, there's a good chance you'll like this one too.

Very cool and interesting survival game. Feels like a blend between The Long Dark and The Forest. Still need a lot of polish and more content. But it's definitely going in the right direction Can't wait to see what the future holds for this game. Looking forward to more Content!

I love the potential this game has. It is a bit frustrating with the insane concept because as a survivalist I would LOVE to live like this and it wouldn't affect me as easy as the mechanics currently do in game. I would love to see the food last a bit longer considering you live in a freezer. I would also love the ability to construct your own nails, as it is quite possible even in the real world. I am currently in Survival mode only as I hate questing. I love building and surviving. Devs have been very responsive to issues I have brought up. Keep up the great work!

I love the idea of it. I, overall, think this game is pretty fun (have not played all of it yet) but, honestly, it can be too much a lot of the time. Your player's sanity level and the factors that go into your sanity is very unrealistic and dramatic. I spend two minutes in my cabin to heat up and I get cabin fever and my sanity gets too high. Next thing I know, because I was in my cabin for a few minutes, next time I wake up, there's a dead man sitting above me cause I'm going crazy. My health, food, hydration, and sleep are always very high. My temp is under control and I go to reheat often. I avoid wolves well. It's pretty ridiculous that my character goes so crazy from cabin fever and home sickness when I'm not just camping in the cabin for 3 hours. Devs, please fix this. Makes it harder to not rage quit your game for me personally. I really really want to love this game. My favorite type of plot.

This is a game I've been waiting for since the first demo version and am excited to see the vision coming together with the Early Access Release. I love the concept, and the developers have put a lot of time and effort into crafting an immersive and bleakly picturesque world to die or go crazy in. The Good After several delays to the early access launch date I think the developers have found a good balance between rounding out the rough edges of the demo releases and leaving room for the game to grow. The graphics are smooth and the many dynamic elements like moving auroras and vanishing hallucinations put the video card to work (NVidia RSTX 3080) but without any issues. I haven't experienced any crashing or freezing and have managed to avoid getting stuck anywhere thus far. The survival dynamics of the game make you "work for it" to keep playing. I enjoy that it makes the survival aspect more engaging, but unlike games like Stranded Deep and The Forest where you can have a base built and running your first day I've found it takes closer to a week of game time to progress far enough to get to that point. The best parts of the game though are the little surprises (both good and bad) that come from the layers-deep sanity and buff/debuff system. Turn off your flashlight and you're afraid of the dark, bring it back on or light a torch and you feel better. Walk through a creek and your boots get wet, slowing your movement and increasing your heat loss until you dry them out. Eat snow and gain water but lose body heat. And my personal favorite, make it a few days and run away from enough wolves in a row without learning about the bathing mechanic and you gain a "stench" factor that makes you attractable to animals more easily. Lastly, I'll just comment that I enjoy the encumbrance / weight system that mimics the Bethesda Fallout / Starfield model. It works a lot better than the restrictive limited carry slots of other recent open world survival craft games. It's hard, the hardest learning curve I've had since They Are Billions (yes different genre but iykyk), but engaging and you really feel like you earn those restful moments back at the cabin where you can finally The Bad The game, despite the learning curve, keeps you within the playable tutorial. I'm around 4 hours in and only just able to start building and adding to a base. In the demos you could start patching up your hut and making it "liveable" in an hour or two and that felt better balanced. I get that the game is trying to let you feel out all the different survival and sanity mechanics, but give me a hammer so I can start patching holes in my woodcutter's cottage and keeping the heat in already! The game also seems to mock you at times. I've found multiple spears looking pointy and tantilizingly effective at taking down those ever-present wolves or even a stag for some meat, but alas - I haven't found the uncraftable spear HOLDER yet, so I can't even pick one up at the expense of holding onto other equipment. The game is HARD, and you don't get much reward for the effort you put into things. Nearly find one of your friends after sneaking through a cave full of sleeping wolves and you get rewarded with an overencumbrance of items you largely can't craft with yet at this stage of the game and a half game-day hike back to your base to start another quest. Still, the narrative moves things along and at least it's clear "what comes next". A few notes to the devs who are lurking the forums: - find a different key than f7 to bring up bug reporting - activation zone for climbing is too small - need an indicator that being encumbered so much you can't jump also means you can't climb / mantle - "since last save" timer doesn't update on saves; always counts from last logon regardless how many saves happen in the middle - eating at a fireplace animation locks the fireplace UI in place and you can't close it until the animation ends - heat/food/water loss when sleeping is overly punitive compared to other titles in this genre - too long to get to base additions / customizations - wolf damage should be increased - losing ability to use tools when frostbitten mechanic from playable demo should be reintroduced - rock piles need to be more visually distinctive from surroundings and/or highlight better in Q mode - visual indicator of negative status effects (ie injured ankle) should be shown in the character inventory UI - abundance of spears appearing before spear holder just mean - no ambient temperature boost when using a torch (reasonably there should be?) - clipping on rocks / cliffs needs work - walkie talkie during a walk with friends quest needs to modulate more when "sweeping" to find the next direction of travel
