An exceptional game. There's a great balance between farming, action and discovery. Farming is quite unique - you can plant anywhere, as long as you can provide water. Start with one tiny water source and create rivers by the end of the game. You don't need to grow much to provide for yourself, so you can do very little or knock yourself out creating beautiful landscapes. And, most importantly, you can hug frogs! How wholesome is that?

The best "at your own pace" game I've played. If you want to relax, its for you. If you want survival, you can play it hard and fast. If you just want to make a pretty garden, you've got that. Even the story is really deep and moving. I love this game and will always recommend.

Love it when negative reviews that barely played the game and complain about issues that get resolved further down the line don't allow comments. Travel gets a lot easier later on with flying, as well as the tool you get to dash later on. Food is also not a huge concern later on as long as you plant some stuff to eat back home and after you learn which plants to dig around while you're out and about. The game isn't a hardcore survival game, and frankly the combat is average to above average for a survival game (granted the bar is pretty low for survival crafting games but eh) If you like terraforming games where you change the entire game world throughout the course of the game I can highly recommend this. Sidenote, people really need to stop using the BOTW comparison on any openworld game that allows you to climb on any terrain and also includes some form of flying/gliding. It's about as helpful people describing every game with farming in it that's come out after 2016 as "It's like Stardew Valley but..."

This is a cute/pretty exploration and gardening sim you can play online with friends. The gardening/soil remediation part of the game is great, the food/water mechanic causes a suitable feeling of urgency, and some parts of the environment are quite pretty. However, the game overall is very unpolished in a lot of ways, which might annoy some players too much to be worth it. Pros: - soil remediation/nitrogen-fixing/revitalizing natural environments part is fun and well-executed - the food/water/health meters cause enough urgency to be motivating during your explorations. You really have to watch your water meter when running around the desert in the day. - finding new water sources and starting new gardens feels especially good - the terraforming(literally digging with your shovel) takes effort but doesn't feel tedious - the ruins are pretty, and you can really feel the lush plant vibes in the environment as your efforts begin to pay off - The trees of the same species still all feel different enough that even if you planted a bunch of them in a row, it doesn't feel copy and pasted. partially this is because the angle of the land affects the tree, and very little of the map is flat, which looks very cool but means it's easy to plant a bunch of stuff that becomes chaotic and unnavigable. That's part of the fun of the management part of the game though - the map shows mostly everything you've discovered even if you don't have the resources to unlock it, and the journal interface makes it reasonably clear what to do next/track what resources you need to unlock various sidequest type things. Cons: - the basic interaction interface is incredibly annoying. There's one button for both picking something up, and interacting with objects. if you walk up to a plant with a fruit you can harvest, and press the interact button, it will bring up the interface to interact with the plant. if you want to pick the fruit, you have to hold the interact button while there is nothing interactible near you, which causes you to pick up anything you run across, and then run past the plant while holding the button. This sucks in a dense environment like your home base though. - This is at its most annoying when you start to build buildings, ESPECIALLY the wooden floor panel. You will constantly be clicking on floor panels instead of whatever you meant to click on (not to mention, highlighting every single square of a walkway whenever you run past or point at it kind of ruins the effect) - About halfway through the game, your home base garden will get really dense and hard to navigate, and it'll probably load in pretty slowly to match. - the second area has an annoying fetch quest. - the enemies feel really incongruous with the world, it feels like they just took random character models from a different game and stuck them in - the dialog is minimal, but what's there would really benefit from a copy editor. Plenty of it doesn't really make sense or convey what you're actually supposed to do next, or was clearly written when something about the game was different and then never changed to match how the game is now. This isn't a big deal though, you can usually figure it out. - the skybox and edges of map feel pretty low effort and minecraft-ey (except for the dust storms, which look awesome) - there are plenty of random glitches, especially surrounding various enemies and interactions with them. I've also clipped through things and gotten stuck plenty of times, and once clipped into a cliff while climbing and had to restart the game because of it. Lots of this is basic polish stuff that doesn't detract from my enjoyment too much, it's still a cute game even if it has potential to be better.

I don't know how to feel about this one to be honest. The basic premise is fantastic, and watching the landscape become green slowly over time as you grow more and more gardens is very fun, as is the ability to terraform the terrain. But if I had to describe this game with one word it would be tedious. You spend a lot of time just running back and forth to replenish your bottle and food. Inventory space is severely limited, and you also need to a lot of micromanagement because there is no crafting from containers! The interface also could use some work, it's very unorganized and everything is just a big list really. Also this game makes my gpu run at 100% during nighttime, I suspect it's the overabundance of transparency effects but it definitely does not have the graphical fidelity to warrant this. Overall, great premise/idea, very mixed execution. If I could give a neutral review, I would.
