You have to have a lot of hate in your heart to hate this game. Fantastic levels, aesthetic, gimmicks, and writing make this game a near perfect experience. Only complaint is that dashing feels kinda jank. I love katamari.

Can't argue with the graphics being more readable and the loading times for levels being much faster. The extra content is kind of there and what you get are a couple new accessories that don't transfer well between King and Prince without extra steps. The stickers are a pointless addition and using the camera is finicky and time still passes. Not yet 90% collection and did the Cousins ending. The first ending is about 4 hours. Second ending is about 10 hours. edited: There is definitely loading objects issues for longer stages with the loading screen growth phases. It isn't a real problem. There are some name changes because of copyright expiring, though some weird changes that didn't need to happen. No more America Man (Big Man Abroad) or the country of Palestine. It takes about a whole day of effort to roll the million roses. I used rubber bands and idled for a couple weeks to get it done. Totally worth it.

We are pleased with this return to Katamari. But we will also probably wear our thumbprints off while playing it. The game has an excellent framerate, and we are impressed at the loading times considering how many objects each level needs to render, but the Katamari itself is slower than ever, needs more force to get going, and turns with no precision at all. We have remapped the Quick Turn function to the shoulder buttons in order to relieve a bit of stress from the thumbs, but there is nothing to be done for the controls for ramming into things. We used this to ram into an island in the final stage to progress faster, but hit the side of a glacier instead and went sailing into the sky. As the sluggish Katamari has not landed yet, we are writing this review from the heavens. But, even with the difficulty of steering the recalcitrant Katamari, we are likely to return many more times.
