The games addicting in the same way Viva Pinata is. The more you play, the more cute little characters you get! 🥹 No surprise that these devs also made Katamari - if you're a fan of that and like the idea of a cute collectathon then this is a must!

(Is this game for you?) If you are a fan of Keita Takahashi (Katamari Damacy, Noby Noby Boy) or can appreciate a lovingly crafted story with great presentation despite relatively weak gameplay, I would highly recommend! Gameplay: 7/10 Controls take a little getting used to, but work well enough. Gameplay is halted too often by scripted events. Visuals: 7/10 Simple but effective Sound: 9/10 Incredible music and sound design, as expected from a Keita Takahashi game. Story: 9/10 Incredibly wholesome and charming with an amazing ending Value: 7/10 Will take 3-5 hours to beat most likely, but there are plenty of achievements you'll still not have, if you are a completionist. Subjective Score: 40/50 (Right up my alley!) TOTAL SCORE: 79/100 (Recommended!)

As someone in my mid-30s atm, I want to give Wattam a "Maybe" rating. It's a sandboxy game with simple mechanics and sometimes cryptic goals you can do if you want to progress the (weirdly serious) story. I think it's a great game for kids to play around in and work out some simple puzzles, but the controls could use some work. I love games, so I think these kinds of games are especially important to support. For me, this kind of thing is great to experience and understand games as an art medium, creating diverse experiences for all kinds of players that can be fun, silly experimental games instead of only safe franchises. However, my personal experience of Wattam was one of mostly wanting it to be over so I could just be done with it and move on. To that end, all I did was the story bits where it felt like I was doing different versions of the same stuff over and over. Maybe you could break it into many short sessions and that might improve the experience for grown-ass people like me. I felt like I didn't care about anything anyone said because it was so chaotic and random that nothing made sense anyway, but the story got a bit deeper toward the end, and there were some genuinely heartfelt moments. I just felt like things were dragged out a lot by the slow cut scenes and samey gameplay. If you're an adult and you want something lighthearted and playful, or something truly unique in the gaming space, get this if nothing more than to have in your "distinguished gaming connoisseur collection for big brain gamers who know what art is". I would say though, that for 4hrs of game, you may want to wait for a sale from the $30AUD it goes for.

This was a religious experience for my mother and I, and I can say we learned everything and nothing at the same time. Its very funny and an oddly wholesome game, which gave us more joy in the first 30 minutes on our couch than anything HGTV produces. Its absurd presentation, the light toilet humor, and somber quirky and Jazzy soundtrack work hand in hand, to create the ideal game for any bad day. There are a few bumps, some character interactions like stacking can be choppy, I had to wait a bit for it to load initially, and the mouth(?) characters can be annoying, but in comparison to most games with a higher price, it runs relatively smooth. Personally, I could not recommend this g̶a̶m̶e̶ no, experience, any more than I can recommend "Godzilla Minus One", or "Everything Everywhere All At Once", or any Pikmin game, or "Katamari Damacy", or "The Big Lebowski", or any other form of peak fiction. Please give it a shot, It will change you.
