A Fun Game with a Solid Foundation (It's a Risklike lol), but Questionable Balancing Holds It Back. The game has great potential, with a strong foundation and enjoyable movement mechanics as its main selling point. However, questionable balancing decisions hinder the experience, making it frustrating and unintuitive at times. Pros: Core Movement: Movement feels fluid and satisfying....most of the time, showcasing what the game does best when it allows for creative player expression. Cons: 1. You can’t shoot while using the movement abilities of the Flying Warden or Speedster Warden. This limitation feels arbitrary and diminishes the fluidity of combat. Why restrict core features like this? 2. The Tank-Like Warden can’t leap in any direction, and you must touch the ground before using the ability again. This makes it feel clunky and tedious—an unintuitive choice for a vertical movement-centric game. 3. The Flying Warden is the only viable choice because horizontal movement is just...meh. The other Wardens feel like afterthoughts in comparison. 3-part 2. Seriously just use the flying warden 4. The Speedster Warden burns through stamina far too quickly, making it a less effective, watered-down version of the Flying Warden. Why pick it when you can just... fly? Again Just use the flying warden 5. Dashing and double jumping being tied to the stamina gauge feels like lazy balancing. These are universal mechanics. Why nerf them this way? 6. There’s a new enemy in Stage 2 that drains your stamina gauge completely. This design decision completely ruins the gameplay flow in a movement shooter. Taking away movement options—especially universal ones like dashing and double jumping—in a movement shooter just sucks. Player expression can be limited in more creative ways that don’t break the core identity of the game. It feels like the game aims for a low skill floor, which is commendable, but the execution falls short. Balancing needs significant improvement to make all Wardens viable and to better support the core movement mechanics. Despite its flaws, the game is fun and has moments of brilliance. With better balancing, it could truly shine as a good Risklike. Score: 7/10

Warden Will, has great potential and delivers a solid foundation, but it’s clear the game isn’t quite finished yet. While it’s fun and engaging, the current offering feels too short in terms of stages and bosses. I managed to complete it fairly quickly, which left me wanting more. The music and sound design are decent but could use significant improvement to elevate the atmosphere. Rifts typically lean toward minimalistic audio, but there’s room to experiment and craft something truly immersive. Unlocking everything does take time, adding some replayability, but the game can feel too easy once you achieve a broken build. The pacing starts slow, but the difficulty ramps up quickly, which is a nice touch. However, the early game might test players' patience before things get exciting. Overall, this game shows promise, but it clearly needs more development time to reach its full potential. I'd recommend holding off on harsh criticism and giving the devs a chance to expand and refine the experience. With more stages, bosses, and polished sound design, this could be something truly special.

I enjoyed the game from the parts I've played but would love for the devs to put a little more time into certain aspects. Clearly inspired from RoR2, this game holds a lot of promise and can improve on some fronts to become much better. I feel the boss fights can offer more value and more variation can be added in the environment mechanics. The gameplay experience feels similar for game levels. I'm recommending the game because it's a good start and I definitely see the value. I'm surprised looking at the reviews right now to see how fast the devs acted on the community feedback. I was unaware about boss fights having no abilities, that would've been awful. The game is certainly interesting and can brush up on some fronts that others have mentioned. It's a small team, and your proactivity makes me believe in your project so thumbs up!

I mean, there is just no audio here. No music, weapons sounds are really quiet too Gameplay seems ok, artstyle nice but honestly good Music/ Audio is 100% needed imo. Instead there is just some weird ambient sound constantly makes the game not really have much atmosphere imo I wont thumb it down cos assuming solo dev/ small team but I need good Audio to enjoy these types of games personally

First things first. This is not a Risk of Rain clone, nor it tries to be. Warden's Will is mostly focused its unique movement abilities. It is definitely not easy to get a grasp on the mechanics, but once you figure it out it's quite rewarding. Unlike Risk of Rain, you don't really have classes. You have a bunch of different characters which you combine with weapons. I had the chance to try all the weapons on earlier demos and playtests. They indeed do change the gameplay quite a bit. All weapons use the same "reload" system: there is none! Each weapon heat up when you use them, and you need to do right click to use the special power of your weapon to cool it down. So basically, reload mechanism is also a special power. If you don't use this special power, you are punished as the weapon goes into a cooldown period for a few seconds. I personally quite like this system, as it is more fun than traditional reloading approaches. The game is quite hard, and is a little hard to get into. You need to play a few times until you get the grasp of the mechanics. This is especially important for augments. Augments are quite rewarding, if you understand what they really do. All augments are connected to a trigger, which means you get the bonus from augments if you trigger them. This might be hard to get used to, so play the game with Tab menu on. There is quite a big room for improvement though. A lot of stuff can be polished. There are also some balancing issues between all characters and weapons. However, I understand these things take time. I can see huge improvement compared to the demo 6 months ago. So I am confident devs will improve it further.
