God, if you're going to get a VR game, this is the one you want to get. Best to have a Mic, but god, you can spend hours in this game. Definitely worth the money, heck, I'd pay 3x. I really hope this'll still get updates. Seems like Biannual updates, and it is so worth. EDIT: Now, you don't even need VR to play this masterpiece! New Screen mode allows you to just play it like any other Non-VR game! Certainly not as fun, and I hope they add more Natural Magic, but man, this is the game that keeps on giving.

There's a lot of interesting things to this game, but not enough content to really use all these neat things on. That's my biggest takeaway from the game. To start, I played this game on the Valve Index, in case that has dramatically influenced my experience. So, the most interesting thing about this game is the gesture based magic system that allows you to do many things ranging from making and rolling a ball to throwing a gravity well (which, funny enough, use very similar gestures) to casting lightning strikes. It's a pretty versatile system and I found myself foregoing any other tools (spells crafted in the tower, swords, crossbows) aside from grenades once I got familiar with the system. There's also voice recognition with the latest patch from June. The voice recognition allows you to communicate with the talking skull you've seen in the trailers at the top of the store page as well as modify yourself and things around you; you can even conjure tools to aid you if you so desire ("create a grenade" being my favorite because grenades amuse me). There even seems to be a mix of your gesture magic and your voice recognition with a spell called "Spectral Scream", though I haven't tried it because I didn't want to disturb my family by just randomly screaming. There's an overarching story that felt like a bit of a slow burn, but did eventually catch me by surprise and seemed interesting enough, but it gets told in snippets over the span of 40 pretty repetitive levels with the big reveal dumped on you at the end. The enemies in said levels are also pretty bare bones in terms of difficulty with them ranging from fodder to more annoying than difficult. I will make an exception for the white statue enemies because them just rushing you with a magic reflecting shield is exactly the type of enemy I feel this game needs, though if you see them early enough, you can just throw a gravity well at their feet before they can react to it. Back to the lack of content though, I managed to complete all but 5 Steam achievements in my 8.8 hours at time of writing without really trying and I even missed a couple easy ones like throwing the skull out the window because I'd feel guilty. That includes completing all 40 levels of the story while killing every enemy that chose to face me, mistakenly spending 2 hours in "infinite" mode which offers no progress, and completing most of the things in the tower. I know I haven't uncovered everything (at least, I hope I haven't), but it's a shame that the tower spells feel more like a tech demo than much else and there wasn't much to really stress test the gesture magic. Still giving it a thumbs up because I did enjoy myself, I felt that having all the gesture magic unlocked from the start and then slowly being fed instructions on how to use it was good (as it allowed me to discover its uses often times before I found the instructions), and the integration of both gesture and vocal commands was well implemented. I'd say to give it a go, but only on a sale where it stands at time of writing.

Good game, wish you could bring skully anywhere though. Please make it so you can say "Summon skully" for him to appear in front of you and accompany you

This game is really cool and a lot of fun. But, once you've collected everything, there's not much else. It'd be really cool if this game allowed modding. Otherwise, I'd say it's a solid 7.5/10 VR game.

"Hey, hey, what are you do- AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" - The last words of a skull before being ruthlessly thrown out of a window. On a real note though, this game has been really fun so far.
