Easily some of the most enjoyable combat in a PVE game I've yet played, paired with lovely sound design, beautiful model work/animations, and a stunning adherence to its concept. it runs surprisingly well despite its visual complexity. It has fallen into a similar trap as scrap mechanic with extended development of massive content leaving the base game behind, but I still look forward for the day it comes out fully. Though from what i've seen from the preview, I'm not impressed or excited.
I never leave reviews. This game is a gem. I played this with a friend 1-2 years ago we had an amazing playthrough even though there were some obvious improvements that needed to be made. Since then we've both monitored the games progress. A lot of smaller release games like this are cash grabs. A decent idea semi-realized and then abandoned once its made a decent bag. That's not this game. The dev's have an original, fun idea, and have consistently communicated with their community. They put a counter for post release updates on their store page. They have proven they're committed and continued to work on the game despite a recent leadership change and initially overestimating their abilities. Gameplay wise, if you want a mobile base builder game with environmental effects and fun combat, this game is worth your time. The drills and equipment are the right mixture of complicated and customizable that make each upgrade feel earned and fun. For some the resource collection will be tedious but the dev's have been working to make the map locations more unique, improve mobility, and make the enemies more diverse. Strong recommend. Very excited to play and see more of the new map now that it's preview is up. Cheers to the Volcanoid Team. Keep it up.
6/3/2026: I played this game back in 2014 I believe and it was good then, but I kind of got bored with it. I returned to it recently, and let me tell you this game has improved a whole lot in 12 years. The details are beautiful, like the steam when the lava hits the ocean, outstanding! Now aside from graphics, game play is smooth, combat is nearly perfect (i just got bad aim), and the building and progression is satisfaction. I look forward to see where this game goes in another 10 years!
