I really got to stop reading peoples reviews of games.... This game is FUCKING AWESOME and I 100% recommend this game to any lover of open world survival craft games!!! Just binged 7 hours straight and enjoyed the hell out it! It is just so cool being on a damn train! I love the tech tree and getting to new levels of it. Building the train out has got to be my favorite part of this. I guess I can compare it to Raft but I think that this is faster paced with better weapons and way more crafting. I didn't expect all the little animals and them to have jobs aboard the train... nor for them to pick up instruments and start playing some absolute bangers!!! Cannot wait to get further in the story. I had zero bugs, co-op was flawless and the game was beautifully optimized. Great job devs!!!!!

This is a rather unique experience, and easily my favorite Early Access title i’ve been following from the start. But let’s start with the… Basics: First and foremost, this is a relatively complete EA game in terms of gameplay and polish, and it is pretty straightforward, yet it cannot fit everyone. Why so? Well, it is a very meditative experience, in which you should not expect thing to happen at a rapid-fire speed, because of… Gameplay: You ride a train through the Void, gather resources scattered around and from time to time run into random encounters - puzzle islands, enemy outposts, story elements and such. But the Void isn’t exactly endless, since you periodically drive into the Depot, which serves as a breakpoint of sorts. Here you can build train platforms, walls and other heavy constructions, safely reorganize things, and sometimes encounters story elements. Once you’re done at the Depot, simply release a break and continue your journey. Resources are either spent on crafting or building, which is done really well - intermediate resources usually don’t exceed the depth of 2 (and i hate crafting resource chains, feeding one resource into another 5 times in a row, sorry). Something that should also be mentioned, that one ride from Depot to Depot takes about an hour on the lowest speed (which you are free to control at all times), and this is where this “meditative experience” is coming from. Since there is a limit on the platform amount, you’ll be riding at lowest speeds until you’ve actually built your train. From there, you’ll be mostly interested in… Story: I’ll avoid any spoilers here, but - the story so far has been really interesting and intriguing, even funny sometimes. It is well written and narrated, definitely very unique, and takes itself realistically, allowing for some moments of humor, while keeping the bar of seriousness, mystery, and even extremely touching moments. You do receive it in small bits, and while it might be too scattered for my taste, the story itself holds me in this game very tightly. Of course, the final chapter is missing at this point, so i cannot tell you if it has a good conclusion or not, but so far it did not let me down in any way, and at some moments even exceeded expectations. Just like… Art and Graphics: It might be one of the prettiest game of this generation. Subjectively, the art-style looks perfect, objectively - the world is consistent, everything belongs here, and the overall work for VFX and art is unimaginable. And all of it comes with great optimization - my first-gen RTX GPU, along with first-gen i9 CPU, are mostly idling through the game. There are no such issues as stuttering or visual glitches. Rofleemos - little creatures you get as your train crew, deserve a separate praise for animations and the amount of little details they’ve got. But, they might come for a price of… Sound: Now, overall sound design is great - everything is balanced, music is good and fitting (actually, it is one of the best soundtracks i’ve heard in a while), sound effects are unique and nice for the hearing. However, and this is highly subjective (judging by the reviews) - your “crew”, Rofleemos and Lootcatchers (it is a different breed of creatures, which name is currently unknown) - have their sounds too, which can lead to some sensory overload, if you place the latter set of creatures in a batch too close to each other. And Rofleemos… Well… They can play musical instruments. One of them being Kazoo. You can imagine where this is going, right? I, personally, absolutely adore them and their passion for music, since it can create a lot of charming and hilarious moments. But to some folk it may be annoying, especially if you take everything too seriously. However, their sound can be controlled by a different volume slider, so there is a solution. And now, let’s jump to the… Conclusion: Overall, i fell that this experience is absolutely worth its price. Developers listened to the community and added a huge amount of QoL and requested features since the initial launch, which now makes it a properly polished and very well-made game, with no “it’s an Early Access” remarks. While i would love to see more content and features added before the release (like being able to save or store new Rofleemos, once you reach their limit on the train), i’m thinking of this game as a complete experience, minus the missing conclusion to the story. So if you’re in for something that allows you to chill, meditate and simply enjoy the ride at your own pace - this is a perfect game for you. And for the rating, i would easily get it 9 out 10, but hey, judge for yourself ;)

During a quest called 'The way' an enemy clipped through the terrain and i'm stuck with an enemy i can't shoot (but he can still shoot back) and am softlocked with no way to progress. Edit: A Deve contacted me right away. Early access games can be buggy but with the quick resonses and support from the dev's i think this could be a great game.

This is going to be long so TLDR first: This is a story game at its core. building is fun, crafting is interactive, storage is a bitch, gun play sucks. Please also read the last paragraph for a warning about saving. Now the rant. First ill say the story is cool then environment is awesome. if that's the most important part of a game to you stop reading now and get the game. Despite the cool story, and the interesting building this game definitely has some quirks that are pretty annoying. First off the crafting. this game has no recipe post feature, meaning I'm constantly running back and forth from whatever I'm building to my chests because I allwase either forget something or grab the wrong item. The next gripe is the animations, they look great but some of the animations that you use on a regular basis are really fucking long, and prevent you from cancelling or skipping them. for example putting away your build menu takes about 3 seconds, and in that time all you can to is move. I've found myself fat fingering the close menu button then having to wait for it to close, just to go through the long ass animation to pull it out again. there is a turn off animations option in the setting menu but all that does is remove the animation. plus it causes some visual bugs (mainly with the hammer) . either way it seems like just letting you interrupt the animation would have been way more pleasant. Another problem I have is the gunsmiths. in this game primarys are made up of 7 (maby idk) parts. with different parts dictating different aspects of how the gun preforms. this system would be great, if the UI actually told you what each this does. For example Barrels dictate your bullet type but nowhere on the crafting UI does it tell you what that is. even if you put it on your gun it doesn't update the bullet type icon untill you exit the bench. the same goes for fire modes on grips, and effects of parts. All in all its really hard to determine what a part is going to do until you put it on the gun witch sucks when you finish a fight and have 6 or 7 new parts to check out. each part also provides a stat bonus for example one part may add the stat: on 4 kill detonates a dead body. witch aside from being grammatically odd is also not listed on the parts information. you only find out about these when you put the part on the gun. even then it doesn't actually tell you what part is giving what bonus, they just appear in a list and you have to remove parts and read the list over and over to fugue out what does what. then we get to the gun play. this is by far the worst part of the game. the enemy AI is increasingly stupid, but they also always know where you are. i get prefired constantly, even after repositioning. the AI seem to hit about 80% of their shots while your running and probably 60% while you peeking meaning your going to get hit allot. luckily they barely do any damage so you can eat rounds all day and be mostly OK. Unfortunately the weak guns seems to be a trend thought the game, because it also takes an insane amount of shots to kill the AI. that combined with the treble chunky sights on every gun, the insane flinch when you get hit and relatively small ammo reserve means gunfights tend to feel very frustrating and boring. (somehow) this only gets worse the later into the game you get. off the bat its not bad but once armour starts getting involved shit devolves real fast. Next up is the storage. there are allot of items in this game, and both chest space and floor space is limited. In terms of general play this games has some odd quirks involving picking up items. the hit boxes can be very finicky especially when dealing with items on benches. you also cant put anything on tables, witch isn't so much a major issue as it is just odd. like why cant i put this table lamp on a table? with all that said I still recommend this game, especially if you can get it on sale. i don't this you'll get much replay-ability out of it, but it seems pretty long. One final warning. the save system is stupid AF. the game auto saves, however playing a multiplayer world (even if its not yours) will result in all you auto saves being overwritten. and while the UI doesn't display it manually saving on a multi player work can overwrite you single players saves. this little Quirk cost me about 5 hours of game play. over all 6.5/10 fun but on GOTY.

Last year I would not have recommended the game, but since then, a bunch of new features have made the game WAY more bearable. Many of the most annoying problems with the game have been fixed because of new content such as the Loot Catchers. The new crafting station fuel mechanic is much better in my opinion too. The best addition so far in my opinion is the save options menu which allows you to personalize your game (number of sharks, enemy damage, stack size etc.) Oh and Steam achievements! Yay! Don't be mistaken though, there still are many things that need improvement. For example: - Character's animations take forever to finish and lock your controls for what feels like an eternity. - Gun parts still take all your inventory space and using the gun station doesn't feel super intuitive. - The loading area between zones is just way too small, so as soon as you have a train that is longer than a single fully upgraded wagon, your train will just clip through the back wall. (that's been an issue from day one and it's still not adressed) - The base damage for enemies is really high. As soon as there are what could be considered a lot of enemies, they will shred your life like you've never seen. (The menu settings allow you to lower it, but I think the base value should be decreased a bit) - You can't decide where the train is going. You only go in a straight line and wait for things to show up. It would be really cool to be allowed to choose between destinations that have different loot, events and environments. - There is still barely any incentive to make your train go faster, so the afterburner function is basically there just for show. - Don't bother trying to take the stealthy approach when you enter an outpost. The enemy already knows you're there and has wallhacks / aimbot. - I had an issue where water and organics would just regularly dissapear from my chests So yes, the game has been improving, but there's still a lot to do
