Over a month later I still can't get this one off my mind. It's almost unbelievable how cool it is that this exists. This isn't another "postmodern deconstruction of videogames". It doesn't pull from the usual bag of tricks. Void Stranger rearranges and puts the pieces of the medium back together to build something entirely unique, refreshingly unironic, and very special.

Came for the puzzles, stayed for... so much more than i could have ever hoped. The music, the visuals, the characters, the storytelling, its all *chefs kiss* If you are not into puzzles, don't bother; this game doesn't pull any punches. If you are into puzzles, hold on to your seat because this is one hell of a ride. This is definitely one of my favorite games in recent memory. Thanks so much System Erasure.

It is just an amazing, thorough game with a deep story and numerous secrets. Not going to say much as it really could spoil much of the experience. Just as a forewarning though, if you aren't up to puzzles, you may want to sit this one out or search for level guides (no secrets). and trust me when i say this, there is A LOT in this game

A seemingly innocent puzzle game that hides what might be the most subversive, fourth-wall-breaking adventure since Undertale. I never would've thought that I'd like a monochrome, Game Boy-styled block puzzler in 2023, but here it is: one of the most enjoyable experiences in gaming I've had and tied for my favorite this year. Truly the hidden gem of the year. This game may be just a simple Sokoban game on the surface, but it spans so many genres you wouldn't expect. You can watch streamers play this or watch YouTube videos like I did initially, but there's nothing like being fully immersed in playing the role as the main character yourself. Both the OST and story elevate it to a whole new level of quality that seems outlandish for it looking akin to Game Boy games. It's experiences like this that remind of why I play games in the first place. Not just for fun, but for moments like these.. for moments of synergy with the player character. For moments where developers use gameplay to make the player feel something.. real . Even if that feeling is utter hopelessness or sadness. Please go into it blind if you can, you will not regret it. I pray this gets all the attention it deserves within the next few years and becomes a cult classic. A few tips for those who are just starting or getting frustrated: • Void Stranger is HARD, but you’re equipped to solve any given puzzle. • There is no Undo button. Plan your moves carefully, then execute. • You will not see everything on your first playthrough. • Rest at the Birch trees when you can. • If a room feels like it serves some hidden purpose, it probably does. • Any and all shenanigans are valid. This game will try to break you. It’s okay to break it a little in return. Just don’t be surprised if it notices. • Take notes and screenshots. You’ll thank your past self. P.S. make sure to punch the snake woman's tits one extra time for me. Thanks.
