!!Spoiler Alert!! I enjoyed it, but I find that it has some logical errors in the scenario and the interpretation of the characters. Like become a Primogen without having other Lasombra to lead is weird. Some scenes are ridiculously unnecessary or useless, lead to abstract or oversimplified answers. It is not as necessarily deep as what the narration seems to want to interpret. Some choices do not add anything to the story and do not change much in the content and the characters. There is a lot of content that is intended to describe the character, but does not necessarily form an attachment. Despite this, I believe that it is a game that interprets the universe well and modernizes it. I was a big VR player and I really like VTM, I recognize that this game is a good introduction to the universe. I still think that it deserves a little love, amused me and inspired me. In my opinion, it does not have bad or good endings, it is really whether you choose to behave like a Lasombra that determines the ending. I find that it lacked a bit of nuance at this level. Visually and musically very successful. The translation requires an effort, many conjugation errors. I recommend it because I sincerely believe that the political stakes of Vampires The Masquerade are interesting and deserve attention. But I also sincerely believe that it can be better, darker, cruel and more fatalistic as the universe is first of all. Unfortunately a neonate can't really accomplish much. I understand the idea, but it's hard to be ambitious in The Masquerade, very hard... especially in a few nights (lol). Qadir is a interesting character and I see that they continue to develop certain ancient vampires in the other games. That's cool.

A kind of short visual novel set in a world where vampires rule form behind the scenes. Story is rich and transtitions really quick from one point to the next. There is a vast terminolgy used thorugh the story since its a first person narration, luckily for us, there is a note section that allows for the explanation of said terms in relation to how it is interpreted by the protagonist. The art and soundtrack may be simple but they dont fail to create the setting as it unfolds the story. I would also like to point out that the character do stand out visually. I, however, would have liked more insight in certain characters and events that happen in the story, because why bother give them names and make them look important if only to skim over them in favor of a plot that moves fast on its on schedule. Still worth its price, it is a good read if you have a few bucks to spare.

I love these games but I was really disappointed that the devs re-used every background from Coteries of New York. The writing and the plot are so great but this bad decision made this second game feel a little cheap.

Fully recommend this game. Liked it even more than the prequel (Coteries), and, to my mind, these two games are best played in succession. Keep in mind, though, that the praise is in no small part due to the personality and overall vibe of the main character, so I'm probably somewhat biased because of my preferences. Julia is written very persuasively, and I could clearly see her motivations and inner turmoil. I would even say she is the farthest character from a 'blank slate' that I've seen for some time now, and definitely very high in my personal 'the MC who has a strong personality in interactive fiction' ranking. Naturally, I couldn't help but be absolutely won over by her. Here, the story is more linear than in the first game: less variety, less impact of your choices of how Julia spends her time, and the same course of overarching events in every playthrough. But, at the same time, this game implements a neat system of Traits that determine how the story concludes, so you get to have an actual influence on the ending you'll get. Shadows of New York calls the options 'good' and 'bad', and it's certainly par for the course - but only from a vampire's perspective. Not going to spoil the plot, so I'll stop my comments on it there. However, I definitely want to take time to sing a few praises to the art, animation, and soundtrack. The backgrounds, the cinematics, and the melodies accompanying your playthrough are all simply amazing and tie into each other nicely to create an atmosphere that, again, has a very clear character that confidently pulls you in. The developers also took note of some complaints directed at the previous game's character sprites (namely, them having almost no variety despite the narrative): here, the events of the plot reflect on the characters where it's important, and Julia in particular has several very striking expressions to depict her attitude to the situation or general mood. Overall, one of the best story- and universe-based VN experiences I've had. Going to go watch some of the mentioned films now, as the game is ripe with cultural references I'm interested in exploring.

I cannot describe the love I have for this game. I have played through it over and over, and still the story takes me away. It's not really a romance dating sim, keep that in mind, but the novel itself is still phenomenally written and I honestly don't think that it could have been made better. Both this game and the original are worth playing. I just finished the second ending, so I felt it was time to write this review after I have seen everything the game had to offer to me. The protagonist is a lovely ball of gloom, and the art is absolutely stunning. Having a gay character was also a plus for me, just because I'm queer myself. I felt like their dynamic really added to the background of the main character before her life changed, and the writers did a great job at continuing the world building in this game that I saw in the last one. It was nice getting to see the characters again, this time with a set character. The audio in this game is also really lovely. 10/10 recommend for visual novel enjoys :)
