Years later, I still think about this game a lot. It has a lot of clever aspects and it feels unlike any other game out there. A great sense of exploration, challenge, learning the game's mechanics and mysteries is satisfying, exploring the levels all feel quiet immersive, the random generation is well done.

Kind of hard and good for playing in short bursts. Like a side job, not the main game to play. may be during updates or if something is being installed. Gets frustrating in the long run. Once in 9 hours I got a bug that made me stuck inside a room without any means to get out, was only able to get out because I had a descent scroll which is a bad way to get down floors.

The dungeon generator here is really special. This video goes a bit into detail on that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRp9vLk7amg&t=2m34s Puzzles and monster cluing and the placement of bosses, loot and dungeon features ... It usually always allows for non-linear traversals. I used to only do "desolate" runs which means very little monsters and same for items but that was punishingly hard. Once the update/fixes continuation by Elias finally also saw a Linux build I had to switch over to a more sane "challenging" setting (because "casual" I really did not want) because desolate in that build is actually arcade mode (a new bug). With the beta branches feature you can choose which version you want to play, though. See with the content offered, unlocks and challenges to tackle and secrets to uncover and all the free DLC content which I did not even check out any of yet, you will find lots to explore here. You can also choose your difficulty. The game is hence very accessible. Cannot recommend it enough for its price if you think you might like it.
