UnEpic

Daniel was just an average guy. He was a great videogame player, a big fan of sci-fi movies, and a novice RPG player. In the midst of an RPG, he was teleported to a castle. At first, Daniel believed that he was having a massive hallucination.

"A Hilarious and Addictive Adventure!" I wasn’t sure what to expect from Unepic, but I ended up having a blast! It’s a perfect mix of retro-style platforming, RPG elements, and comedy that kept me entertained for hours. The story is ridiculously funny my character, Leon, accidentally gets transported to a medieval fantasy world and just rolls with it, making hilarious comments along the way. The writing is top-notch and had me laughing out loud more than once. The gameplay is super engaging, with tons of secrets to uncover, tough bosses to defeat, and plenty of upgrades to keep things interesting. I love the variety of weapons and spells you can experiment with. The world feels big, and the more you explore, the more rewarding it gets. It definitely has that “just one more hour” vibe. The pixel art is charming, and the soundtrack’s really good too. Overall, if you’re a fan of games with a sense of humor, fun gameplay, and a bit of challenge, Unepic is a must-try. I didn’t expect to get so hooked, but I’m glad I did!

Some people complains that the game mocks you, the player. I'm not bothered by it. Some people point out, that there are some section with difficulty far greater than the rest of the game. I came across at least one of those and it was annoying. There was also an early boss that forced me to put the game aside for awhile and return later when I finally managed to overcome it. When the game is not annoying it is enjoyable, and I think I completed about 60% of it over the years. I usually judge the game by whether it was good enough for me to complete it, so normally that would be a negative review. But I would like to make an exception here because the parts that are not annoying are actually quite good. I probably would have finished it if I did not know I'll get stuck on the next annoying bit soon. I finished it vicariously, on YouTube. Here is a thread that I mostly agree with, although not all things mentioned tick me as much as the author: https://videogamegeek.com/thread/906827/unepic-it-will-annoy-you-unepic-review Quite a few hours of fun guaranteed.

played 30 hours of single player (beat the game multiple times) and the rest is all multiplayer, really fun game IF you have someone else to play with cause otherwise MP is a grind and will take a long long time to complete. if on linux, use proton since the native build isnt updated and join the unepic games discord server to find people to play with (try not to get carried, it kinda ruins the fun). some MP maps are very bs and filled with hidden walls, multiple paths, trolls, etc so just know that you will die many times. glhf

Wow, the end is really cool! You (Daniel) are a normal guy playing D&D with your friends. One season you take a short break, go to the toilet, and suddenly the lights go out and you find yourself in a mediaeval castle with nothing but a T-shirt, jeans and a lighter in your hand. What has happened? A few steps further down the dark corridors, you meet a spirit who, after a short dialogue, poses you. Now the journey begins and you must find out what your purpose is here and how to get back home. Your main task is to find and defeat seven guardians, each with a key that unlocks a new zone in the castle, which will contain stronger monsters and new items. For the first few hours, the map can feel like a maze, but as you learn more about the game, it gets better and there are gates that act as shortcuts. Each castle area is unique, with great music and new quests to complete. Yes, the game has side quests for characters you will meet on your journey. They will put a smile on your face because the game doesn't take itself seriously and parodies many nerdy things from Star Wars, through various movies, and series, even there is a merchant with a name that refers to popular open-source Linux distribution. The game offers a nice selection of swords, maces, axes, spears and my favourite, bows. If you want to create a mage build, you can also buy or find special weapons for that class. As you complete the rooms in the castle, you gain experience that you can use to develop different skills to build the character you want. My favourite was an archer, but there was one thing that bothered me, and it was not just a problem with bows, but with all ranged attacks. When you press TAB, you can lock on to any enemy in sight, but when there are multiple enemies at once on different platforms, it is hard to lock on to the right target. It would be nice to be able to use the mouse to lock. Especially when fighting the seventh guardian it would be helpful. The game has very good voice acting, but the visuals could be better in some places. For example, a room where you are fighting a dragon or the area where you can get the last pet. They looked to me like they had a different art style from the rest of the game. What is this pet I mentioned? Throughout the story, you will find different monsters that will follow you and help you in fights. They can freeze or set an enemy on fire. They can heal you, drain life from any living creature and much more. It is a nice addition to the game. You can also use various spells to make yourself stronger or invisible, for example. Unepic offers you all the good things that you would like to have in a role-playing game. Conclusion So, should you give this game a try? If you are a fan of Metroidvania games, it is a must-have and if you are new to the genre, it is a good place to start. You can choose from four different difficulties, so whether you're a beginner or a veteran, you'll enjoy it. The game offers references to lots of nerdy things, a funny story with the relationship between Daniel and the ghost, and lots of options to create a character to your liking, and I have to say, wow, the end is really cool! Before Unepic, I played [url=https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198091110242/recommended/1203710?snr=1_5_9__402]Unmetal which was as good as this game and would be nice to see more un-games from @unepic_fran. Unepic 8.5/10 🟢 Good story 🟢 Funny dialogues 🟢 Relation between Daniel and the spirit 🟢 Various weapons 🟢 Easter eggs 🔴Hard to pick the right target by aim lock 🔴Some rooms don’t fit the game art style
