Very fun puzzle game. I didn't realise there was an order to the rusty lake games so I'll be playing them in order now. A few complaints I have: some of the achievements are based on constantly clicking different parts of things which I don't think many people will get without having to resort to a guide and there are a few lazy things like having to go back to certain parts to click on cryptic parts of items to advance. And the measurement puzzle with the cigar and lollipop don't match up so it took me a bit of trial and error to get the right code. All in all though I think this game is absolutely brilliant for it's price!

I have made it a mission to slowly go through all rusty lake games in order of release. This was the last game on my "to complete" list as it is the most recent. I have spent the past year getting through all of them and being continuously impressed by each one. This game is absolutely no exception and is a perfect example of a developer becoming a master at what they're doing. This is an improvement over all prior entries in every regard. The story is phenomenal, the puzzles are great, the chapter system and everything that happens afterwards are all fantastic. The entire series is a 10/10 and this just happens to be one of the best in the series. This, Paradise, and White Door are showcases of how the genre is done perfectly.

While some challenges and voice performances could be improved, it remains a recommended experience for both Rusty Lake enthusiasts and newcomers.

7/10 Dark escape room game in the Rusty Lake universe: the story of Laura Vanderboom. What is it: A point&click, escape room puzzle game in which you play through Laura’s life, organized as 7 metro stations, from the crib to her murder, and beyond. I won't spoil the story with too many details. If you’re familiar with the Rusty Lake games, you know what to expect. If not, the game is dark and twisted, morbid with a touch of the supernatural. In every stage, the goal is to get a train ticket and the time when the train to the next stop arrives. The usual mechanics are involved: click on things to “activate” them, or to collect them, and figure out which tool is needed to open the next item. There are actually 3 parts to the game, finishing Laura’s story through the 7 stops is just the first and easiest part. After that you get an extra challenge, collect 7 cubes. While the main story is linear, each chapter is self contained and you only go forward, finding the cubes involves going back and forth, using leftover items from one station in a not so obvious way in another one to get one more item or one more hint, then on to another station, again and again. That’s my favorite part of the game. Once you get all 7 cubes, you get a chance to tackle the third part of the game. This third part is optional, bonus content, maybe even easter eggs, that cannot easily be solved with just the tools you have in this game. On one hand, this is nice, free extra content rewarding true fans of the Rusty Lake world! On the other hand, this really sucks! This isn’t a standalone game, but part 167 of the Rusty Lake Universe, consisting of dozens of games, their website and other fake websites, social networks posts, ads, live events… Solving the hidden challenges and earning the achievements requires, at best, having played a few of the other games, or at worst, knowing about a certain competition and its winners. I want to play a game, not become a real world sleuth digging the internet for weird clues! The only good aspect of this is that there is a whole new chapter, quite big, and with interesting puzzles. Another aspect I didn't really enjoy is the “special” achievement in each chapter, since they require doing a lot of unintuitive work, like clicking on something 10 or more times. How hard is it: Moderate for the most part. The puzzles are logical, for the theme of the game, it doesn't require you to try impossible things, and it doesn't hide objects behind a few outstanding pixels. The extra achievements are best done with a walkthrough. How long is it: 7 main chapters, 7 challenge cubes, and 7 extra challenges. 2-6 hours of playtime. Level design: Good. Quality: Clean design, easy controls, Steam achievements and cloud saving, progress reset, no bugs encountered. Could use a highlight key, and/or a hint system. Worth the price: Yes, especially on a discount. Most positive aspect for me: Good cube challenges. Most negative aspect for me: Some of the extra challenges are impossible to solve without external resources like social media and playing other games, or a Steam Guide.
