I'm embarrassed to say that I bought this game years ago and attempted to play it twice but got overwhelmed by the intro and decided to play it later. I'm so glad I decided to play it again and oh my god I've missed so much in the previous years! The game starts off with an intense scene where one of the characters is trying to snap you out of your haze, asking you questions about who you are and what you've been doing before the demon possessed you. You'll get the option to choose between a man or a woman, a name for yourself, and the interesting part is that when you choose your past profession, each choice will play a different origin story. After that, you'll meet the first two companions of the unvawed, and you'll learn that they are a society who are working together to stop evil. Every case will give you a glimpse into your companion's life and what they were before joining the Unavowed. After meeting the four companions, you'll get the option to choose who will accompany you in the next case. You can only choose two, and each companion has a unique skill and encounter, as they'll give you their insight and have a different approach to solving any puzzle. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3452150441 As with any point-and-click game, you will converse with people and solve puzzles, but this game is huge. The story branches, and each decision you take has consequences you'll see through your gameplay. Depending on your choices, your companions could join you or not in the final battle. I'm in love with the artwork, the portraits, and the whole graphics of the game; they are so smooth and beautiful, and even the reflections on water are mesmerising. The voice acting is really good; most of the voice actors did an outstanding job. KayKay is so cute, and Kalash and his daughter Mandana have the best voices of all. I truly enjoyed Unavowed. This game is a hidden gem with a great story, characters, puzzles, and soundtrack . The hard choices you have to make add weight to the experience.And the ending ... wow, it was incredible. It left me thinking about it long after the credits rolled

Yes! I have been chasing this feeling that I used to have when playing point and click adventures in the 90'. You know, that feeling that you can't replicate anymore, because you are older, chasing different goals etc. But unavowed did it! The pixel art is perfect, atmosphere will stick with you, great characters, locations, story. Just play this.

A triumph. Wadjet Eye's best to date and one of the best adventure games I've ever played. Oh, you think I'm being hyperbolic? Play the first ten minutes and tell me you aren't at least intrigued. The developers found a clever way to make the game replayable by jamming it full of variables. Honestly, my only criticism is that I wish it was even longer, with more "regular" cases to solve and maybe one more playable character. Beautiful, lush art, wonderful voice acting, characters with lots of heart, a captivating stories with a killer twist, so much to explore, and the puzzles never felt unfair. This felt almost like a season of my new favorite TV show packed into a single game. I would recommend playing the Blackwell games first for the full effect BUT if you haven't you won't miss anything critical.

The story immediately got me. It felt so intriguing. Main characters do their roles, nothing fancy but fine yet I liked side-characters. They felt unique. Puzzles are close to easy but formulation and pacing are executed well. The ending, it just fell flat. It felt rushed, almost like all the tension that had built up was suddenly let go without giving me the closure or impact I was hoping for. It left me with this lingering sense of disappointment after everything. Overall, there are original ideas most adventure games don't have and the setting kept me interested.
