This game bring me back. Ultimate Street Fighter 4 is the definitive love letter to fighting game fans, delivering smooth mechanics, a deep roster of 44 characters, and just the right amount of "Hadouken!" chaos. Mini stories and cut-scenes for each character. Skill based Mini games, and so much more! I don't play it often anymore. But I MILKED this game HARD when it first launched on other platforms. As for this version specifically, its amazing. Runs on ROG ally And Steamdeck with no Stutters, or Slowdown. Everything is pretty optimized and intact from what I can remember. it's fair to note the the multiplayer has been dead for quite some time. (heck, "Multiplayer" is not even a store tag). But this game is an amazing once in awhile Nostalgic trip, as well as a great couch co-op choice! maybe not full price, but i def recommend at sale price

The lowest recorded sale price is $3.89 at -87%. Full Review: Ultra Street Fighter IV is the fourth and final update to the fourth main entry in the Street Fighter series. The first version of Street Fighter IV was released in 2008 (roughly 9 years after Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike). Super Street Fighter IV came out in 2010, 3D Edition launched in 2011, and Ultra Street Fighter IV was released in 2014. Street Fighter IV has a similar feel to Super Street Fighter II Turbo while incorporating features from Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike and adding new features of its own. As expected, the game has a high skill ceiling with combos that require 1-frame links (i.e., frame-perfect inputs). Mechanics such as Focus Attacks, Red Focus, delayed wake-ups, plinking, double plinking, kara cancelling, and Focus Attack Dash Cancels (FADC) add layers of strategic depth. Mastery involves not only learning these mechanics (along with your character's combos and special moves), but also knowing when to use them by taking into account distance/spacing, reflexes, and timing. Understanding matchups and frame data is crucial for high level play. The skill floor is deceptively high. Button mashing is basically like flailing your arms in a real fight, hoping to land a knock out. It's not going to work in real life against a trained fighter, nor does it work in video games against a skilled player. The learning curve can be pretty steep, depending on player skill and familiarity. As usual, computer controlled opponents will read inputs and have insane reactions (especially on higher difficulty settings), but at the same time can be easily exploited by things that wouldn't work against human players (such as spamming Focus Attack). A major issue with these older competitive games is the small player base, which results in a wide skill gap. For new players to effectively learn and enjoy the game, they typically need three types of opponents: those of superior skill to learn from, those of similar skill to spar with, and those of less skill to teach. These days, two out of three of those types are lacking. Nonetheless, if you can grab Ultra Street Fighter IV on sale for around $4, it's still a worthwhile purchase for Street Fighter fans or fighting game enthusiasts looking to explore the series. PS: The game runs perfectly on Linux with Proton-GE *except* for missing audio during cutscenes. This issue occurred with newer versions of Proton-GE (7/8/9), though Proton-GE 6.21 played cutscene audio normally.

I bought this game just to revisit one of my favorite games from back when I was a lot younger. Back then, this game had a roster of like 20 characters and it was hard to unlock new ones as they periodically updated the game to add new fighters. This is an all-time classic and one of the best, if not the best, Street Fighter games. I highly recommend everyone to play this one, at least few games here and there won't hurt anyone, but if you're familiar with Street Fighter franchise it's likely that you already know about it. Fighting games are usually not for everyone, I can claim the same because I rarely play MP games as it is, but this one I just had to revisit to remind myself of much, much simpler times. In terms of fighting genre, you don't get much better than this. 10/10

Probably the last true Street Fighter before the devs locked everything down with season passes and currency to buy characters. Fighting style and moves are really faithful to all the older game mechanics and characters which makes this familiar to pick up but also introduces new mechanics to keep things interesting.

OVERVIEW: Speaking about the history of fighting games without mentioning CAPCOM’S Street Fighter is virtually a nonsense and in reality fake news. When I played the last title in the series consistently it had like 14 characters and given Ultra SF 4 has 45 toons available you can guess it didn’t took me ages to make a purchasing decision Pros -» Gameplay: played with Ryu and T.Hawk so far using an Arcade stick. Haven’t felt any inconveniences, on the contrary…enjoyed much learning the latter -» Soundtrack and sound effects: My favourite is Abel’s theme, matter of taste I guess… -» Graphics: a step forward for its time -» Characters: They allow for many playstyles, no taints in this bracket -» Replayability: I love the training mode addition to assist when picking new champions -» Difficulty: scales accordingly to your needs, horizons and experience Cons -» Zero SUMMARY: A decade has elapsed almost since the game was released and my friends…it still shines immensely 9/10 gaming scale Disclosure: After clearing the main campaign and, as I comeback for new sessions or new updates arise by developers, I intend to keep revising this review
