Yet another combination of my two favorite things and It's an exceptionally fun and challenging yet fair game. I'd love to see more content and more length in the sequel but for 5$ this game is totally worth playing. The achievements are kind of insane tho

I was not ready to like this game so much. I know nothing about Touhou, so I didn't think I was going to enjoy this game. In fact, I didn't like it at first... and then I loved it. Here's why: The Negative * The art isn't great: The pixel art is not great. At times it's okay, some rare times it's good, but mostly, it looks very amateurish and makes it hard for the player to understand what is part of the background and what is not. It can also be quite repetitive at times, although I appreciate that most stages look very distinct from one another. * Bosses can feel unfair: Sometimes, the bosses do not telegraph their attacks well enough. Some of their animations are so similar or so discrete that dodging or getting hit becomes a coin toss. * Balance sometimes feels off: Some power-ups are unnecessarily laborious to get. Some enemies hit you without a warning. A few things here and there feel a bit off. Not even necessarily hard. More like annoying. It's not frequent enough to make the game bad, though. It's more like a nitpick. The Positive * Movement feels great: Although the jump can feel slightly floaty at times, the movement is super tight. I always felt like, movement-wise, all that I did wrong was my fault. * Great platforming challenges: Aside from removing some of your movement abilities, which is a trope I detest, most platforming challenges are well designed and make you feel great when you overcome them. * No lives: I was not sold on this one at first, but the game is hard, so dying will most likely be way too frustrating if you had a limited amount of lives before getting a "game over" screen. * Fun bosses: With all the problems mentioned above, the bosses are still super fun, feel very different from one another, and make you feel great when you defeat them! * Exploration: Each stage has one secret to be found. They are hidden enough that you can miss them, but not enough that you need a guide to find them if you actually try to explore the edges of each stage. * Polished game: I haven't encountered a single bug during my playthrough. * A lot of stages: The game has 14 stages, an intro stage, 8 stages with 8 bosses that make your power increase, then 4 final stages that you get to face using all your power-ups, and an extra stage you unlock after beating the game. Most of them have at least one gimmick like falling platforms, gravity inversion, etc. * Good music and sound effects: It's not the best out there, but it's pretty damn good. The Verdict I was not impressed at first, but the more I played the game, the more I appreciated what the developer was able to come up with. After beating the game, I felt like I didn't pay enough for the amount of fun I had. I recommend this game to anyone who likes a fast-paced jump and shoot platformer game like Megaman X.

Fun and bite-sized Megaman-style game. Was a bit frustrating at times (as you'd expect from this sort of game), but beating the frustrating sections felt quite satisfying and going thru the ending chapters was pretty cool. Solidly designed and put together. The pixel art feels quite on point for a Megaman-style Touhou game and the soundtrack has some nice renditions of the Touhou tracks. I really enjoyed it, despite being terrible at platformers :p

An action-packed touhou fangame in the style of Megaman X, starring everyone's favourite bunny girl: Reisen! It really captures the Megaman X experience accurately, right down to how the spritework looks. Dashing around is super satisfying, and there are even a few unique levels that play more akin to a space shooter with classic touhou bullet hell elements. It's a great budget title, and a worthy experience if you're a fan of either of these franchises or just enjoy action platformers.

Stupid fun MMX-like, I wish more devs took inspiration from the X series rather than the classic Megaman games which have been overdone at this point. Perfect controls and decent-ish level exploration. This game is a little half baked with the level design and collectables but there's a ton of promise here, something that could easily be improved with a sequel. Still though, I highly recommend this.
