Can't really say much, there seem to be a lot of good reviews, however, looking at the code, it's a mess. First of all, there are code typos like `heiht` on variable declaration, then trying to set `height` resulting in the exported value `height` always being `undefined` which is flagged in any modern IDE; a lot of functions with outright deprecation warnings are in use, a lot of unnecessary `var` assignments are made instead of using string literals; a lot of comments and error messages as well as most comments are in Japanese, making it harder to troubleshoot certain things for people that do not understand Japanese. I'm sure workarounds exist, but the mess of code duplication and workarounds for bugs that could have been fixed is a bit painful to see, hopefully these things are worked on. For anyone without coding experience, this seems to be a good choice overall, hence my recommendation of this software.

easy for my stupid brain who was too lazy to use ren'py cus i hate coding. It's like as basic as can be, so don't expect any like crazy features. I will say most of the plugins haven't been updated in awhile so that was pretty annoying. This game itself hasn't been updated in quite some time, but its easy if ur just starting out making visual novels.

I love this engine, 1000000 times recommended. I've been using it for almost 600 hours. It takes some time to master, but the tutorials are excellent and with practice you'll get better and better. All questions that one could have are also answered in the discussion boards. Some things that I love: - No coding required! - Super customizable user interface. Every game that I make in this engine comes out different, which is awesome. - Possibility to import videos and gifs, great background transitions, character movement options and camera settings, which helps you make very animated visual novels easily. - Excellent variables system, you can make very advanced games with unlockable scenes, multiple story branches, different endings, etc. - I even managed to create quizzes (options), a shop with in-game currency (image buttons and variables), a system that lets player choose what character traits the hero has (variables), and even a long horizontal screen where the player explores from left to right. ALL WITHOUT CODE. - Unlockable galleries and replay galleries. - Possibility to monetize games. I tried several other visual novel engines but for me this one is the best, especially if you cannot write a line of code and still want to make very advanced games. Thank you for this gem.

This was my first game development engine and it holds a special place in my heart even if I don't use it anymore. After making a game on this I ended up moving onto twine which is a better starting point for learning to make games. These days I wouldn't recommend you start with this program but instead twine to learn the basics of narrative design. If you are interested in learning coding for making games start with "scratch". These days if you want to make a VN you're ultimately better off with Ren'Py, Godot, or Twine. That being said if you want to buy this on a whim just to have fun, there isn't really any harm in getting it.

I used this to create my first visual novel. I think it's a good starter engine but lacks many features that stop it from being amazing. While it allows you to create clickable areas, The areas do not highlight outside of the mouse changing to let you know it's clickable, this can confuse the hell out of your player base. The community support and developer support is basically dead. Youtube tutorials are extremely out of date and will leave you ripping your hair out in frustration when you can't create your dream visual novel. If you plan to make a visual novel with Tyranobuilder keep in mind that it will be extremely bare bones, especially if you are brand new to any of form of game development. I sought out help from a number of experienced game developers and they to were stuck with this one. In the community posts somewhere there is a massive list of features developers have begged for since the first release and nothing of value has been added in the many years since the engine has been on steam. Proceed with Caution and consider learning Ren'py, it's the Visual novel standard for a reason. If you're just attempting to make a simple visual novel you can probably work out everything on your own as I had to, but there will be things that will leave you stumped. Certain features just don't work, like creating an unlock image gallery.
