I debated for 10 hours with this was a low A tier or high B tier in the genre. In the last hour it's settled back down to mid-B. TLDR: While there is a lot to like here, and certainly potential for it to improve, I think there are a few too many issues to put it amongst the top games in the bullet heaven/survivor genre, but at the same time it's certainly worth your money at this price point, and it's...probably worth your time at least to mess around with. Pros: Mostly polished, with a few bugs / design issues Some good characters Spell effects and general overall ability design is mostly good, if borrowing very heavily from VS at core Price point hard to beat The hedgehog/echidna character was entertaining Meh: -The card system is interesting in concept, but at most you can unlock 4 card slots (and the 3rd and 4th slots ain't cheap) and there are a zillion cards that are kind of annoying to sort through. -Hard to put my finger on it, but while it's very competent, is it as fun as most of its competitors? This is obviously subjective, but I think it varies a lot by character. -The sheer number of weapon/trinket combos is fine in theory, but a few of them are more critical than others. Either needs balancing or a little trimming. -I'm sure there's a design intent here, but 11 hours in I still have a number of unmatched weapon/trink combos and I have no idea how I'm supposed to unlock the match. -The difficulty overall is a bit too easy, with the exception that certain final bosses just don't match up well with certain characters. Most runs I just feel like I'm floating worrying mostly about getting to as many events as poss before the timer runs out rather than thinking about all the trash I'm killing. Cons: - I really don't like the Lore system, tbh, as it makes you play certain toons on certain maps to unlock skill upgrades. Spirit Hunters did something kinda similar, but with challenge modes that were often very creative, not with basic progression - and done in a kinda bland way here as well. - A few notable bugs. Had one boss disappear into the ground, and since it doesn't appear on the map or mini-map, I wondered around for several minutes trying to find it again. - Second bug was fighting the Frost King Crab(?) with the Cat with evolved totems, and the summons (my core damage ability) mostly just stood around watching. Still won easily, but took forever. - The minimap...kinda sucks. Either shrink the playable space so the minimap can be a bit more refined, and/or better, put directional arrows on the map the way HoT, YAZS, or so many other games have done so I don't have to keep toggling to the minimap -The 'loot goblin' idea is fine, if not particularly novel, but why does it spawn off the visible map? Why does it not appear on the minimap. Why is the 'laugh' noise the only sign one has spawned. -The final bosses have a health bar, but the mini-bosses don't. ...why? It's annoying esp given that a few of them feel like damage sponges. -You can't access the main weapon for other characters - only that character's main plus the shared pool. In theory that's a good idea, but why then do you bog down the trinket pool with the trinkets that match all the weapons I can't get (esp. the damage reflect one)? This might be fine if there were more banish/rerolls, but besides the cat every other character gets 1. In sum, it's a perfectly competent survivors-like, with potential to get better, and it's pretty cheap.

This game is for those who want a fun and relaxing game, just sit on the couch and kill a lot of monsters. For the price, if you like roguelike games, you definitely should buy it. Pros - Has different and interesting characters, with diffent skills and lore - The tree skill and card system are great - Nice gameplay and amazing graphics - A lot of builds that you can use combining the characters weapons Cons - The character sounds could be a little annoying, its really repetitive - This game is 100% ranged, the melee characters are just good if you use other nice ranged weapons, so doesnt make any sense - The bosses are REALLY easy, and thats not the biggest problem, gets worst with the fact that they have too much HP / defense, so you get a long fight with a boring boss that doesnt die and doesnt kill you too.

Don't let the price-tag fool you; this is a good game. It **is** a Vampire Survivor's clone and doesn't stray far from its source material. If you don't like VS, you won't like this. However, it is fun and has good production values.

This is a fun game with a promising future but the game is suspiciously running on 20W in the main menu (Steam Deck). I hope it gets fixed or optimized soon! :steamhappy:

Similar to Vampire Survivors, but different progression system. Each character has their own talent tree, and you collect cards in game to provide general bonuses (like 15% cool down reduction.) First area had 4 stages, and there's 4 areas over all. Not bad if you like Vampire Survivors but want something slightly different. Now that I have more time with it, there's multiple things that I find negative. -Your build is going to be samey. Since there isn't a progression system that's universal (other than cards) you're going to be doing crit chance, crit damage, and any other damage passive. The only deviation is playing a different character and getting the passive to evolve their weapon. -AOE is king. If you do not have a proper AOE weapon, you will get overwhelmed and die. You also need the damage, hence the above. -To get S rank, you need to kill the boss in seconds. Hence why the "damage only" meta is further making builds stale. Kill the boss in seconds, get a shit ton of coins, kill a lot of enemies. All focused on AoE and damage. -Weapon balance is all over the place, hence why you're probably going to be locked into one build the entire time. While you do have 5 weapon slots (and get over it if you save events for later) if it's all spitting in random directions you can't get S rank boss clear since you can't control your weapons. But on the other hand, going damage only means you can't sit next to the boss since they all have large AoE moves that will instagib you. I'm not sure why they went with speedrun mechanics and then bosses have a set pattern where large AoE makes you unable to be close or you die. -Summons suck. If you go summons only you're shooting yourself in the foot. Unfortunately, the summons are either OP or useless balancing is in effect here. (Side note, summons suck for everyone unless you're an upgraded Aster. I didn't realize the second half of the tree has so many summon buffs because I didn't make the review at the time.) -Your character will rely on their main weapon. Your main weapon is not guaranteed to be evolved. This is a major issue because I played Aster, the only character with 7 rerolls and 7 banishes. Even after using 7 banishes and all of my rerolls, I didn't have the passive to upgrade my main weapon due to the pool of weapons/passives. If your character relies on their main weapon (hence all of them, since that's the point of the talent tree) then this can make or break a run if you're trying to get S rank. The limit of 3 choices probably makes this the most painful. Solutions for this would be increasing base choices to 4, have a preference for showing you weapons/items you already have, have a preference for pairing weapons with their evolution counterpart, or pre-game banishes for the 9 other main weapon passives you aren't going to get anyways. Cherry on top is that banishes don't matter for the event shrines on the map. -You'll see things you banished in the passive/weapon shrines. In 2 runs now that I'm mostly through the weapons/passives, I only got Aster's passive to evolve his weapon at the 14 minute mark after exhausting all shrines. That's 7 banishes, 7 rerolls, 2 weapon shrines, and 2 passive shrines (not to mention other event shrines) before I got what I needed for my character that is built around. Do I absolutely 100% need it? No. But what is the point of the talent tree if it's RNG if I get my evolution that my talent tree effects? There's some more positive things, but I mean I'm still going to play it so I'm going to keep it as positive.
