It easier to explain my love of Turok 3 by reflecting on the first two games and the tedious problems each of them had that Turok 3 does not. Turok 1 mostly only suffers from two issues it's clunky platforming and terrible secret locations to hunt down. Lots of the secret locations are behind fake walls you can pass through, some with no way of knowing you were supposed to check said wall. Others so insane there are secret walls within the secret walls! Sometimes even lava pools you must dive in that suddenly act like water with no way for you to check without gambling with your HP by jumping into lava and just praying a secret is there. Turok 2 while better than the 1st game has labyrinth level design that will test the patience of all those who play it often having you backtrack through a level 2 or 3 times to find key items you missed or mission objectives you likely passed at least once. One of Turok 2's biggest sins is forcing the backtracking BUT not respawning the weapon, ammo, and health drops... BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!!! It does respawn the enemies even though you are likely low on all three of those mentioned things. Turok 3 fixes all these issues in addition to having the smoothest combat of all three games. It might be the shortest Turok but it's also the only game that doesn't test my sanity. On the bright side after the two main campaigns there's unlockable post game content to that kept me coming back to this game because I loved it instead of artificially extending the playtime like Turok 1 & 2 did.

Review in english and portuguese Review in english: The good: -Funny; -variety of enemies/weapons/maps/protagonists; -has easter egg; -improved texture; -various achievements. The bad: -The shortest Turok yet (despite being very replayable); -price well above other games in the series (despite being the shortest). Regarding the price, don't blame Nightdive Studios, but Atari. A long time ago, Atari bought 100% of Nightive Studios, with the promise that they would not change the company's modus operandi; Well, all the games released after the purchase were sold for a much higher price than usual (despite having the same quality as before). Death to Atari!

As per usual it's a rather flawless remaster by Nightdive. Why this costs $18 more than the previous two BETTER Turok games? I dunno, Atari buyout? This and the Dark Forces remaster are waaay too expensive there guys what are you doing? Is Atari making you do this? Regarding the game itself: While not a bad game by any means, I feel bad for any kid that only had Turok 3 and never played the first two...it's just not as good. Stuff I don't like: -all these story cutscenes like there's people that care about the lore of Turok...probably ate up development time and why the game can be beaten in a few hours -the short linear levels -splitting the game between two protagonists feels unnecessary and just a way tack on playtime to this incredibly short game -did I mention it's short? Buy it on sale.

Well, I've almost finished my first playthrough of this at barely 2 hours. First the good things: The quality of this port is excellent. Nightdive has done an excellent job. This is the BEST version of the game to play. Now the bad: The gameplay itself is completely mediocre, its nowhere near the creative highs of Turok 2 and barely has any of the energy that it had. And while I do get and understand the creative vision they were going for with T3- sure it pushed the N64- it still sucked back then and its not aged any better now despite the best effort of the teams at the time and Nightdives port. It's very very short. Even when i do the second playthrough with Joshua I can see this whole experience being wrapped up in maybe even less than 5 hours at the end of it. Do I recommend this? It's a very tentative yes. I can only recommend this if you really want to close out the N64 Turok trilogy experience. I'm glad I got it as I only ever got to play the original N64 release briefly at a friends house some 20+ years ago. For some reason when this game was released it was extremely difficult to find any copies of the game anywhere in the UK at the time. Finishing this trilogy was just one of those things for me. Edited review since completing it: Man. I stand by what I said. Nightdives remaster is the best version of the game to play. But the core game of Turok 3 is mediocre to outright bad. There were maybe one or two moments where the game was fun. And that's it. It's an box ticked it off a personal list.

It's incredible, really, really good remaster/remake from Nighdive as always. The price is the way it is because they had to pretty much redo the entire game, we wouldn't have gotten it otherwise; I don't Nightdive is being greedy, I think they're charging for the effort it took to make this game. Everything from the textures to the gore, the lighting, shadows, and even the rendering distance of the game; everything has received an upgrade. I recommend anyone unsure about the quality of the remaster to go to Youtube and watch a comparison video to the original; it's an insane difference. Not only that, but the game actually runs buttery smooth; compare that to some games that look worse than this, remasters or not, and can't hardly run in most PC's out there; there has been a very good optimization work done here by Nightdive, it's not just a casualty that the game runs as well as it does; they optimize it to perfection. The game itself is really good; I never played the original, I knew about it because I like the rest of the games, and thanks to Nightdive I could play the other two. "Turok 3" is a very different game from its predecessors; it's more linear, and doesn't mind not wearing its "Half-Life" influence under its sleeve. It blatantly takes elements from that game, even some set pieces; not replicating them in exact measure, but keeping the core concepts intact nonetheless. I really like the linearity because the set pieces and pacing are really well balanced; I played the game on "normal" and found it to be a fairly challenging but fair experience; I didn't die much, but I was engaged and the game knew how to keep me on my toes at all times; I had to engage with its systems and weapons if I wanted to survive. The gunplay and weapons are amazing as well; like I said, the gore was revamped, this time around is a much more violent game than the original, I really like this; body parts and blood, splatters and flies everywhere when you shoot an enemy; if it was up to me, it would even be more violent. The guns are extremely creative and conventional, but because of the damage feedback from the enemies, even something as conventional as a shotgun gets elevated and turn into a very powerful and satisfying gear of destruction; later during the game you get some even more creative weapons, some return from previous games, some are new, and some cause enemies to react in some really interesting ways. The game also has two characters and an actual story, Nightdive added subtitles and multiple language support; I didn't care much for the story, but I didn't mind, not every story is for everyone, I'm not saying its bad, it just wasn't for me. The actual gameplay itself was what really carried the experience, depending on which protagonist you choose at the start of the game, you'll get different weapons, and even different pathways through the levels; it's pretty darn nice. Some might say that they prefer one protagonist over the other, but I think both have their good things and their bad things, as with anything else in life. Overall, I would totally recommend this remaster/remake, the effort on display here from Nightdive is -as usual with them-, something to write home about; there's also the fact that the core gameplay has been improved and for the most part remains a great, great game to play, with enhancements, even more so. There are some levels that can be a bit cryptic, but frankly, it never got to a point where it was too frustrating or complicated; similarly, there was a boss later on that was a bit gimmicky, requiring you to take him down a couple of times triggering different pressure plates to fall on it and the like; but again, it never got too bad or frustrating. If I were to truly describe what makes this game and remaster great, is how well balanced it is; it's a well made game that -thankfully-, to Nightdive, has now been released from its ancient N64 prison. I don't know what more can you ask for.
