First of all, I played Trine 5 in unlimited mode, local multiplayer and easy difficulty. I've also played Trine 1, 2 and 4 twice (both single player and local multiplayer) and Trine 3 once (single player). With those in mind, here are my thoughts and comparison. * The story is somewhat fun, but not really memorable with 1 dimensional villain. * Beautiful visual and 2.5D environment. * Fairly good soundtrack. * The game runs well on my Linux device. * Better experience with generic controller, although I still prefer using keyboard and mouse. * Zoya and Pontius have more skills to help platforming. I also like the fact Amadeus now has skill which can conjure up to 6 objects, although it's unlocked in late game . * Easy difficulty is more forgiving than previous Trine games, especially during the combat. * Many puzzles are easy, with the exception of a puzzle in act IV, chapter 13. Steam says my playtime is 15 hours, but our actual playtime is only 14 hours since we took a few small breaks without exiting the game. Overall Trine 5 remains fun, although I also agree it lacks innovation/some positive change which makes the game feel stale or boring for some Trine fans.

Finally, a new chapter and an absolutely wonderful journey in the series of Trine. I really didn't think I'd ike it so much just like I like it now that I completed it at 100%. My personal favourite is perhaps still the second game, but this one is very close to it. And actually it didn't do anything special, just delivered us stunning visuals, an epic and long story, and interesting puzzles and secrets to find. It was superb, fun, sometimes challenging, gorgeous and occasionally frustrating - but in a good way. I always loved to interact with animals, also loved to achieve nice achievements, so I was happy from this side as well. A bit of a downside: Firstly, I heard in the release version didn't have online co-op mode, which is kinda meh Furthermore, I would like to see that we are not getting and learning the same skills as before, it's just a bit disappointing after years of experience, and new ways would greatly help to improve the longevity of Trine highly, I believe Lastly, I like the music, and basically in everything music always played a vital aspect to me, so I was disheartened that we didn't get more original tracks, however, I can understand the designers' choice behind it in that "Look, how far we've come", and liked the new arrangement of the older melodies, but I'm firmly believing Ari Pulkkinen can do way more than this. +1 for the fun, SPOILER: Pretty please, devs, give Amadeus Fireball spells!!! All in all, I can only and happily recommend this fantastic game, and even at full price.

I don't know how much more there is to say than that it's more Trine. If you haven't played the rest of them, go do those first -- not because there's any real story relevance between them, but because most of them are great, and undoubtedly cheaper. If you have played the rest of them, you probably don't need to be told any of this. It's good Trine. For those who aren't familiar with this series, which despite only being known about by about 1000 people is still somehow getting one game after another, Trine is a puzzle platforming series with an emphasis on co-op. The newer games support four players, but they're meant for three, one for each character. The knight is good at fighting and can use his comically large shield for anything from gliding to using it as a platform for the others, the thief has a grappling hook that can tether items together, the wizard can conjure up various shapes and levitate things, and every game one of the three is laughably overpowered compared to the other two. The newer games also let you set the character swapping to unlimited, where you can have multiple players playing a particular character at once, but unless you have a four person group (which would require it) I prefer the classic setting that restricts you to one each. The puzzles do change to accommodate it in either case, with Unlimited mode sometimes requiring multiple of one character instead of just allowing it, but it loses the importance of being reliant on whichever player is playing a certain character and the chaos of coordinating three people. Trine 5 also has a puzzle difficulty toggle that I at least don't remember the previous games having. Nobody else seems to realize this, either -- I know this because the one time my group finally cracked and I tried to look up a walkthrough (I know, I know, but in our defense it was 2 AM), even the ones that said they were playing on hard mode only had the combat set to hard. The game warns you that it isn't meant for your first time, even if you've played the previous games, and quite frankly I agree, but in a game like this that just makes it that much funnier to play with a few friends. Coming across a puzzle you have no idea how to solve, breaking it in half with the combined efforts of three heroes and some thoughtfully applied physics, and moving on without ever figuring out what you were supposed to do is a cornerstone of the Trine experience, and the tradition is more alive than ever here.

I played it with my friend. Overall, it was a good game - nice graphics, new character abilities and very good boss fights. However, by the end of the game, we had so many abilities that we would sometimes forget about one that was crucial to solving a puzzle. The only thing that made me really angry was the camera movement. it sometimes just forgets about me and follows my friend's character. If he's on a platform above me and that's where we should go next the camera just goes up and I can't see my character. This, probably, shouldn't be a problem in a solo play. 8/10

Trine 5 is a better iteration of the series in all aspects. Devs've outdone themselves again. It's a shame this game seems to have garnered so little attention.
