Travis strikes again is a schizo's diary coated in mechanics. While the game is fun on it's own, most of it is closely interwoven with SUDA51 career, the other No More Heroes games, and the games industry in general. Travis, Dr. Juve, and a few guest characters are all a mix between a representation of the writer, the player and themselves, creating a interesting dialogue where you can try and parse a deeper meaning when the plot can easily be paralleled into real world events. As for the game itself, it's harking back to SmashTV and friends. A fast paced, arcady combat, letting you get a good amount of skills to shake up combat, each stage bringing new basic mechanics to keep it all fresh throughout. Bring a friend if possible, while hard considering every stage is spaced out with long, weird, reference heavy visual novels, you get double the amount of skills to use, adding to the amount of synergies you can try out during combat.

Very bold move to make a game that's only fun in co-op when a majority of your fanbase is filled with people who have no friends

I'm really conflicted about this game. On one hand, I love the writing. It's nice seeing Travis' introspection and all the references to the rest of the Kill the Past series were great. While you can enjoy this game with No More Heroes 1 and 2 alone, the story will be better if you've finished all of Kill the Past up to this point. After all, this is a celebration of Grasshpper Manufacture's history. However, the gameplay was a mixed bag. I enjoyed some stages, while I found others terrible. I don't mind "annoying" gameplay in Suda's game if they're that way for a reason, I love FSR, but in a game that's meant to celebrate gaming... the level design is just bad sometimes. Despite that, you can still tell that the devs put in a lot of love, so even if some stages weren't my thing, I can appreciate the artistic intent. It may not have been the same quality as other Kill the Past entries, but I'm still really glad I played TSA. TSA feels like the end of a era, and a start of new one. I'm so happy Suda is directing games again.
