Deceptively simple. If you bring depth of strategy to this game, you will find it delivers depth of strategy. It feels a bit more like chess at times, since a lot of effective moves are "Material gains". It's impossible to fully protect your units in most cases, but they respawn quickly. So instead, it's about keeping your unit count above that of your opponent, and using your superior firepower to find new strategic footholds. This game holds up, and on controller is very fun. I only wish I had it on my Switch!

One of the all time great hidden gems. Much past its time, but, with some friends, this still provides a quick and fun strategy game that puts you in the shoes of the commander on the battlefield, rather than an unseen outside force. With interesting mechanics, a surprisingly active comp scene, and a single player campaign that is both fun and tells a wonderful story, this one isn't a game to miss.

it's a very unique spin on RTS games however, I am not a huge fan of the vampiric drain that units have on your resources. So much as it can lead to a game over even if you still have units alive:( Also, it seems that the output of the farms themselves seem a bit lackluster. It seems like it prioritizes mass resource invading over keeping your units alive and defending the already invaded farms themselves. That said aside, since I am a fan of unique RTS games... this has a unique campaign that makes you almost not feel bad for the main character, as he is willing to sacrifice others all in the name of avenging his son. Although, on the surface it seems like he is tied between forcing his people to obey him and trying to save his own people; it seems that he has bit off more than he can chew as he realizes that people are betraying his (un)just cause. This is my opinion, I think that the father is a bit of a jerk, and there's a part of me that wonders if he even notices that or if he is actually ignorant of it. The more he uses his own men, the less food he seems to be able to provide for them. It is kind of sad to think about, really. The setting and pace of the story reminds me of a darker version of the children's novel I read when I was 11 or 12 called "The Wind In The Willows" By Kenneth Grahame. All-in-all, there aren't very many RTS games that don't have any annoying drawbacks (quirks) in their games so going by that, I am going to have to recommend this game as it is easy to learn but difficult to master. And the fact that you have to talk to people in the tavern in order to start your RTS missions is quite unique and I haven't seen that before, so props to the dev/devs for putting that in there! This has been another review by yours truly! -Tree

The most beginner-friendly RTS I've ever played, and yet has a fair amount of complexity to it as well. The artwork is absolutely gorgeous. Watching an army of squirrels with guns get annihilated with napalm is a bit amusing in a sick and sadistic way. The story is also fairly compelling and the missions can be fun as well. The AI unfortunately cheats a bit but that's super typical of RTS single-player games, so there's some occasional frustration to be found there. As far as the multiplayer goes, the matches are pretty short, and the limitation on moving tons of units around consolidating on just one hero unit makes for a much more easy to process game for a newcomer to the RTS genre. If you or a friend have issues getting into the RTS genre or are a bit intimidated by them, I'd suggest giving this game a try. (Or even if you just like RTS games a lot, this one is worth adding to your collection.)

I love this game, I keep coming back to it as the matches are short and the game is really fun. rock-paper-scissor units. This game distills RTS down to building farms for economy, building unit spawners and expanding to other bases. The focus is less on the micro and more in the tactics and strategic decision making. It plays wonderfully with a controller and victory is sweet! Highly highly recommended
