While personally not as impactful as After Story Tomoyo After is still what you'd expect from a key novel. The first parts of this are kind of really boring and the mini game isn't particularly interesting but still a cool feature with some good comedy and it paved for the way for the baseball minigame in Little Busters so I'm still happy it's there. Eventually once the arc with Takafumi starts from then on the game keeps hitting you with those 'key' moments until you make it to that plot twist near the end which in comparison to Clannad wasn't After Story levels of crying but fairly close to Kotomi's route [which was my favourite route outside AS]. I've seen people complain about personality changes but as someone who's favourite heroine's were Kotomi, Nagisa and Tomoyo I think this is a fair enough continuation of her character after pretty much abandoning half her life for Tomoya like she's more of a tsundere but it's not like that part of her didn't exist in Clannad and the outbursts throughout make sense considering when you remember the second half of her route and the life she had before the ending. Tomoya is still pretty much the same as Clannad's common route, not nearly as mature as AS but considering the stuff in AS this being his personality here makes sense. Takafumi and Kanako seems to add nothing but then their arcs are easily the best part of the first section of the game. Tomo is nowhere near as impactful as Ushio but she is used to tell a very different story involving parenting instead of just repeating AS which does work fairly well and late game one of her cgs really makes that section even sadder. My biggest let down is how there is very little tie into Clannad, Sunohara is mentioned once and a couple of event are mentioned but outside that the orbs of light don't even make an appearance which breaks some of Clannad's world building but you could argue about the added scene in this version and no character appear, this is a small issue in the VN AS as well but even then you still see Kyou, Sunohara, Fuu ko and the anime removes all criticism towards that. And the issue's with his father are never brought up properly either. The music's pretty good but no track here is a 'Nagisa' or 'insert half of Clannad's soundtrack'. Light colors is my favourite VN OP song though that style of trance with Lia's vocal's and the perfect lyrics are just perfection, ED is one of the weaker Key ED's but still great especially considering what's above it. The 'After' chapter is perfect, it has that key magic but goes more in the direction of AIR's true end as opposed to Clannad's but gets that message of 'It's a wonderful life' delivered to you perfectly and I think the extra scene added to this version does give it an even more positive ending, similar to Planetarian's recap and sequel movie. If you like key novels you'll like this and for an around 10 hour VN with a quite long minigame I got this for dirt cheap on sale just make sure you've read Tomoyo's route in Clannad.

Starts out complete slop until the story picks up about 1/3rd in, at which point it gets to the level of what's expected from something tied to Clannad, absolutely worth it The bonus game is kinda whatever, doing it after crying from the ending makes for absurd timing considering how much of a shitpost it is and while it was pretty funny, it's just a silly extra that's preventing me from getting 100%

So beautifully painful... It's one of the most beautiful and most painful at the same time, stories to read. Sure, you need to read Clannad first (I did read both stories before), I came back straight to Tomoyo after, as I remembered that it touched my heart very deeply when I encountered it for the first time. Now, after so many years...can it still hit hard? Hell yeah. I'm shaking, many tears were shed during the reading - especially in the last part of this story. Some people complaining about Tomoyo's character. It's her story. And Tomoya's. It's a different perspective and I like it. It's such a bittersweet symphony of love, that I can't even begin to describe. And now, it hits me also on a personal level. I love the whole concept and characters. And I feel you. I feel you, Tomoyo. If you ever played Clannad and liked it - give a chance to this side-story. It is worth reading, but be warned - plenty of tissues might be needed. Strong 9/10 This is true power of love.

This game is an alternative after story to Clannad, centered around Tomoyo and her family. So if you like Tomoyo, you may like this game. My only complaint is the use of repetition comedy in this is hit or miss, but mostly a miss for me. However, I enjoyed this VN overall and I would watch it if it had an anime.

It is difficult to review this VN. Parts of it are awful. Parts of it are amazing. The prologue is awful and consists entirely of fan service without any real plot or character development. Tomoyo doesn't even seem like the same character she was in CLANNAD as she's an easily embarrassed crybaby. You're best serviced just holding control until the opening movie, which signals the prologue is over. From there, it gradually gets better. There are three main story arcs. The first is so-so, but the second and third are more like what you'd expect from Key. There are still awkward moments when Tomoyo doesn't feel like Tomoyo, but they get less frequent. It is definitely worth getting through the bad parts for the good parts.
