This game is the epitome of indie creativity—a collection of experimental ideas that most games tend to avoid. While other developers might shy away from these mechanics, here they come together to create a uniquely satisfying experience unlike any other. There’s no basic attack, and you can use your attack skill only about once every 30 seconds. This forces you to make a constant strategic choice: should you dodge enemies and try to make it through unscathed, or should you use your skill to clear them out, knowing it won’t be available again for a while? Unlike modern roguelites that reward repeated playthroughs with stat boosts or new gear, this game stays true to its roguelike roots. There’s no progression system—your character doesn’t grow stronger over time. Instead, the map resets every 24 hours in real-world time. If you replay the game within that window, you’ll face the same map, allowing you to learn the traps and enemy placements to make your run easier. However, after 24 hours, the map changes again, resetting that knowledge. This introduces an intriguing layer of strategy: should you push yourself to beat today’s map, or wait for tomorrow’s reset if today’s layout feels too punishing? This mechanic, along with the absence of traditional progression, challenges you to rely entirely on skill and memory. It offers a fresh kind of challenge that stands out from other platformers and roguelike games, making the experience both rewarding and thought-provoking.

7/10 Differ from the Online FPS and MOBA games that have been baptized by so many games in the past two decades but still could last long and maintain popularity, Single-player games seem to naturally lack the infinite fun of intrigue between players, it has always been a big problem for the developer to bring endless freshness to players with limited gameplay. Regarding Indie games that focus on gameplay and innovation but lose sight of graphics, adding randomness and playability through Roguelike or Roguelite elements is a common thing, so does TOKOYO: The Tower of Perpetuity. The so-called daily auto-generated is just a Roguelike-based limited dungeon reconstruction, though it may not provide enough freshness for most players, thanks to its excellent illustration and unique yet hardcore gameplay, this work still has it merits. As a 2D platform dungeon game, we can see that no matter its shoot'em up gameplay or familiar pixel character art style, this work is deeply influenced by the Touhou Project. Unlike its genre, the player's attack methods are severely restricted in this one, with long cooldown skill attack, inducible trap and route design, and the Karma design intended to increase the sense of urgency in the game making this work extremely test player's moving positioning, skills, and route planning abilities. In addition to the unexpectedly excellent music and illustrations, the design that allows the player to obtain items from other players' dead bodies not only adds light social elements to the game, but also reduces the difficulty. The in-game online workshops are extremely easy to learn and use, and the design that allows players to use collectible candies to clear scores for revive not only benefits ordinary players but also takes into account the gaming experience of Speedrun players. The sad fact is that even after several years of development, the existing problems in this work still have not been fundamentally solved. The actual in-game graphics are extreme lack detail, so the character's movements appear stiff and unchanged, which brings an extremely bad viewing experience. Owing to the emphasis on the player’s movement operation and the essence of being a shoot'em up game, even some traditional platform pros need some time to get used to it too, the restrictions on players' attack also make the overall game experience a little bit unsatisfying. At the same time, this work has a way too steep difficulty curve, and the lack of guidance for many mechanisms and traps in the game means you have to figure them out by yourself, Karma design again makes the overall game experience rushy and hasty, essentially is testing player's gaming proficiency, route planning ability, and adaptability, you would not get any positive feedback unless you are skilled enough. We cannot deny that daily dungeon reconstruction could bring some freshness to the player, but since the enemies and traps have not been replaced in essence, it could only prevent the player from Memorisating but not the original intention of retaining players. Thanks to its smart combination of two major game types, shoot'em up and 2D platform, even now The Tower of Perpetuity still has a unique yet irreplaceable position and is still favored by many Japanese speedrunners. Sadly, due to the large loss of players, it is probably unrealistic to expect this game to receive further improvements or updates. If you are a big fan of the 2D platform or shoot'em up, also could tolerate a relatively high entry threshold and hardcore game experience, this work will definitely not let you down. On the contrary, since it might be impossible for you to clear the game without reviving it if you have never touched any 2D platform or shoot'em up, it might not be suitable for those who are looking for a relaxing and comfortable game experience without sufficient foundational skills. A very fun take on the roguelike genre. It is unfortunately quite short if you're not going for all achievements or trying to reach the top of the leaderboards.

Cute little roguelite platformer with cute girls. And a single boy that looks like a girl. Because *of course* he does. Not too difficult once you get the hang of it. Not too complex in terms of mechanics. Not too long to complete either. But still very addicting as the game makes sure to let you know how well you fared compared to other players trying to climb same tower during the same day, and that simple thing pushes you to try one more time to beat other people score. Not much else to say, it's a small fun game for people that like score attack games, give it a shot if you are into that.

Simple but fun platformer. All you can do is run, jump and use a single attack with a very long cooldown... so you spend a lot of the time just running and dodging. There's almost nothing else in terms of game mechanics. But it works, since the platforming and boss fights are solid. The game uses roguelike mechanics in an interesting way- it generates a new tower once every 24 hours. So you have time to learn level layouts, but give the game a day and it'll surprise you again. Runs are about twenty minutes long, just right for a bit of platforming once a day. Give it a try if you like cute animu platformers.
