everything about this game is amazing. The way they represent the Titanic is historically correct. The plot/characters are intriguing. You can finish the game a whole bunch of ways but only one is the "correct" winning way.

Timeless classic. It's crazy to think this game is from the Windows 3.1/95 era.

A Point-and-Click Classic That Lacks the Usual Nightdive TLC Don't let the playtime fool you, I've been playing and replaying Titanic: Adventure Out of Time for over 20 years at this point. It was one of my first PC games ever and one of the few games that I try to revisit annually. The reason that I still make time to play through this game is because, well, it's extremely replayable! It's a game that pulls you in with a great mystery, a lot of political intrigue (WWI is on the horizon, after all), and an incredible setting. From beginning to end, you'll be running around the RMS Titanic as a member of the British Secret Service, trying to piece together many strange clues to uncover a plot that could have deadly and far-reaching consequences for Europe. The Titanic was not just an arbitrary setting chosen for all of this to take place; the mystery and the history of the ship are completely intertwined, which makes the story all the more engaging—especially considering what will eventually happen on the night of April 14th, 1912. The stakes are high, and all the while, the clock is ticking down. But more than all that: the story of Adventure Out of Time is extremely reactive. There are a lot of overlapping plots in this game and it's doubtful you'll be able to catch every single one on your first try. That means you could make it all the way to the end, complete the game, only to discover you totally forgot to help a particular side character. Or maybe you get distracted helping one person, take too long, and let the bad guy's plan progress too far. Or maybe you resolve a task in one way, only to figure out there was an even better way to resolve it. Basically, there are so many ways to approach the story, so many ways to approach individual tasks, and multiple (absolutely wild) possible endings that will clue you in to how well you did overall. And coupled with the fact that the game isn't very long (maybe 5 or 6 hours, depending on how invested you get in exploring and tracking everything down), you could play through Adventure Out of Time many times over and never quite get the same experience, as you make your way to that perfect run where everything finally goes according to plan. Over the last 20 years, this has definitely been my experience. The characters are fun and memorable. The ship, in its day, was one of the most detailed digital renderings ever made and is a blast to run around. (Rumors abound that James Cameron requested a copy as a reference while he was in pre-production for Titanic .) The music is exceptional, sometimes foreboding and other times just creepy. If you can get past the very unique presentation (the game used a very unique method of using photographs of real actors' performances, which are basically puppeteered through dialogue), then you can experience one of the all-time great point-and-click adventures. Sometimes on sale for less than a pack of gum! As far as Nightdive Studios' contribution: I love Nightdive, and I commend them for taking the time to give this game a wide release. It definitely deserves it, and generally if you run it, it will play just fine. There are a few hiccups with this release, though, as it most certainly did not receive the same TLC that other Nightdive releases have gotten. Not by a long-shot. It's not been updated in any real way, and while there are a few rather annoying bugs that can be worked around, others that cannot. These have been reported to Nightdive to no avail: such as the frequent bug that cuts off dialogue too early on some operating systems. There are fixes for this in the Community Hub, but people shouldn't have to change processor affinity to get a Nightdive release to work properly. There are also little quirks introduced into this version, like one of the exits to the Boat Deck (the one next to the Gymnasium) being mislabeled and magically teleporting you back to the A-Deck Promenade. This was most certainly not in the original game, and though it's been reported to Nightdive (and even GOG), there's been no attempt to fix this. I hope that one day Nightdive will give this game just one more pass and try to make sure they leave us with a version of Adventure Out of Time that we'll be able to play with no issues for another twenty or thirty years.

I used to play this game growing up but as computers got more advanced it was no longer in a supported format. I was so stoked when my friend found this for me. It is the exact same game. I've experienced a few glitches but nothing too concerning. The game shuts off sometimes and sometimes the dialog cuts off short. I haven't looked into how to fix that yet. I plan on it though. Just make sure to save your game after any critical turning point or you'll lose your progress. The nostalgia is strong!

I first discovered this game when I was a kid shortly after it was released in the late 90s and I've been obsessed with it since then. If I had to pick one game that influenced me the most as a person, it would be this one.
