Great for people that enjoy walking sims, lo-fi aesthetics and sci-fi stories with themes usually seen in cyberpunk fiction.

Titan Station is an enjoyable walking simulator set on a space station. It's around 4 hours long with a few easy puzzles. The visuals look good, the story is interesting and the setting is great. Easy achievements that you'll get just by playing through the game.

What is this game? It's a walking simulator. What this mean is that this is an adventure with no failed states. You walk around the environments, interact with stuff, solve puzzles, and then that takes you to another section or unlocks doors and passageways for you to continue the pre-determined adventure. Branching paths? Although there are different dialog options during the game, I think there are no branching paths. So it's a linear story for you to follow, like reading a good book. Virtual Reality mode The game has a free DLC for a VR mode. If you add the DLC to the game, it gives you a choice when you press play to run it in VR. The VR mode is fully self-contained, with VR controllers support, and is well done, although your hand passes through objects and scenario. Setting The game mostly occurs within the space station -- which is very well crafted, with many windows and a beautiful view of Saturn's moon and space -- but there is a small section in the moon's surface. The station design and aesthetics clearly pull a lot from Sevastopol in the Alien: Isolation game. While there are no monsters in this game, the foggy corridors with busted pipes, the retro computers, the planetary view from the windows and the solitary compartmentalization of the station all refer back to that game. Time to beat It took me 5h to beat the game. I went blind and didn't rush anything, and I saw people on the forums saying they took 7h to complete. I think that works as an average playtime you can expect from this game. While this is not much, the game is very cheap and I bought it with a 50% discount, and I can say I am completely satisfied with this time specially considering I played it completely in VR, where very short games are the norm (since it leads to physical exertion). Lore/Story This game leans heavily on the concepts of virtual reality and artifficial intelligence, with a twist about mid-game that reminds me of SOMA from Frictional Games. It is well tied up and while there are people in the forums saying they found a couple holes in the plot, I wasn't able to see anything wrong with these during the gameplay. The story is creative and relatable and makes you think about it after the end. There are no woke/identity politics elements in this game, too, which is a big bonus. This is what killed a similar game from 2017, Tacoma. NPCs, gameplay and interaction There are a few occasions where static NPCs have minimal interaction with you -- scripted sections, dialogues and immersive cutscenes -- but this is not the game's core. You can also grab, push and throw small objects around. The protagonist has a voice, comments on things, and is clearly an adult man called David Miller. There is heavy guidance from NPC voices from a walkie-talkie you get in the start of the game. The game relies heavily in the beginning of you exploring and finding 4-digit passwords to unlock new sections of the space, to the point that the protagonist gets annoyed and complains about it. After that it decreases a lot with different ways to get to new sections. After about 1/3 of the game you get to a virtual reality set that allows you to unlock computers by going in a wireframe mode to solve puzzles involving cubes with 3-digit binary numbers attached to them. These puzzles are not difficult but might need some thinking out of the box to understand their mechanics. Graphics and performance The graphics are not too busy, they look clean and polished. The outdoor views are amazing and convincing, specially in virtual reality. The performance is smooth, which is specially important against motion sickness in VR. Bugs The game has autosave and an option to save at any part. I experienced a couple crashes during the 5 hours I took but nothing notable, and continued from practically the same point I was. VR controls can get jerky at some points during the dialogues. Space elevators in the cybespace mode sometimes get in a limited loop launching you multiple times. That's all the bugs I've experienced. Conclusion An excellent, albeit short, indie game to pass the time, contemplate views, solve puzzles and enjoy a good story. I highly recommend, specially due to the virtual reality mode. This game was entirely played on Linux using GE-Proton8-32 for the VR mode. It works with regular proton in pancake mode.

I Played in VR I played the game because it had a VR mode, and it worked pretty well! - 3 times I had to restart a scene because I could not progress due bugs, but it was not too bad. - You shouldn’t expect an AAA title nor something action packed. Everything feels a bit too sterile, and you can’t interact with a lot of things. - Game idea is nice. - Overall recommended.
