Fun short fps, with a fun time mechanic and great weapons. Needs some additional work to make usable, with the 1.2 patch and the cpu fix, but once those are in it works great.

I’ve been playing this game since the demo for the PS3 was released. Ended up buying it for the Xbox 360 a couple years later and played the hell out of the game to make up for lost time. I’ve always enjoyed it and considered it to be one of the more underrated FPS games of the 2000s and I believe it still holds up today. AS SOON as you download/install the game: First and foremost though, you do have to download a patch and a game startup crash fix before playing this game, both you can download from the same page of the same site. So let me save you some time scouring the internet to play a game Steam should ALREADY have playable and ready to go as soon as you download it, just go to the link here: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/TimeShift I've downloaded the "Patch 1.02 for the Steam release" and the "Fix startup crash on modern multi-core CPUs" and the game works just fine. When you've downloaded the patches just copy and paste the files on your Timeshift folder. Graphics and GPU Usage: The graphics are simply stunning, even by today’s standards. The game doesn’t use a lot of RAM or GPU or anything really, so you can turn the graphics all the way up and the PC won’t even break a sweat… it’s off relaxing by the pool and sipping Mojitos while watching women playing volleyball in their bikinis. Controller compatibility: All that being said, I wish this PC version was a little bit more compatible with controllers. I’m new to PC gaming and I’m using my TV as a monitor because I am also a sim racer, so using a controller is a lot easier for me especially since I’ve been a console gamer all of my life until recently. I have a PS5 controller and the original Xbox controller “The Duke” that Microsoft remade for the Xbox One and PC. I haven’t tried the game on “The Duke” yet because I’m more used to the PS5 controller, however in the time I have spent playing the game so far on the PS5 controller, everything except the left stick works perfectly fine. I use the left stick for moving… but you have to keep it pushed up perfectly otherwise the screen will have a seizure and turn me in all kinds of new and exciting directions that I don’t want to go into, often making me run out into the open and get absolutely slaughtered by enemies before I have a chance to get situated. It would be nice to have PS5 controller compatibility, especially since this game had a PS3 port and could EASILY use similar functionality from that, only having to compensate for the track pad. Will try “The Duke” controller when I get a chance and will edit this review to include my experience with it. Overall: I really missed this game and absolutely enjoy it. I’d recommend this to any gamers that enjoy FPS games and especially to the classic Xbox 360/PS3 game aficionados. The plot is interesting, the gameplay was straightforward on the consoles and I’m sure is adequate on PC (the controls are all customizable as well so you can customize them to your heart’s content) and the main feature of the game: the ability to control time; is extremely fun. Full disclosure, your ability to control time is time limited so you only have a few seconds at a time to either stop time, rewind time or slow time. Slow time lasts the longest, roughly about 10 seconds. Stop time lasts probably about 5 seconds, give or take. Rewind time lasts for probably all of 3 seconds… it definitely doesn’t last long. Regardless, you can definitely have some fun. I definitely enjoy stopping time, shooting people with the shotgun and then running behind them before time starts up again and watching their lifeless corpses fly towards me. Call me a psychopath, but I just always found that hilarious even when I was 8 years old when this game came out. The game itself is 10/10 would definitely recommend, but the Steam version of this game would probably only get a 9/10 due to the controller compatibility leaving a lot to be desired. Doubt Steam will get around to fixing that issue, especially after all these years, but it’s still worth noting in the off chance they actually read these reviews and feel compelled to listen to the people that actually still play these older games.
