Sept. 2024

Decent game, not for everyone, you wont find a deep story, friendly characters or comfy gameplay, this is just you, your reflexes and the enemies. The parry system is what made me finish this game, you just have to be patient, learn the patterns of the enemies and then, CLONK! CLONK! CLONK! pure satisfaction, my best advice to have fun here is to become the parry king. Not a spectacular game in any aspect but a thumbs down would be unfair, have fun friendos.

A fun and short soulslike game where you play as a Plague Doctor. It’s a mix of Bloodborne and Sekiro. Like Sekiro, the parry mechanics are rewarding and satisfying. With high-speed movement due to having no stamina, the game encourages aggressive play. The theme is similar to Bloodborne, set in a historical period without werewolves or aliens. I had fun and encountered no problems. I recommend this game for fans of soulslike gameplay.

it's ok :) Finished all the levels and got all the endings. The level design is not great. The combat feels great, it has a bit of jank in terms of parries and the mikiri counter knockoff sometimes just not working. Most of the bosses and enemy encounters are good. Had it been any longer it would've been a chore to play, so it being rather short is a good thing. Overall it's a little rough but since it doesn't overstay its welcome I can recommend it. Hopefully the devs and designers learned from this and can iterate on this to create something truly special next time, I really do think they would be capable, and Thymesia does have some cool and unique mechanics to it. I look forward to it. :))) :)

Honestly a fun, short and excellent game. You surprisingly have tons of build and playstyle options. I personally parried everything, but you can play it safe and dodge more if you want. Each node in the skill tree is distinctly different. The 'wound' mechanic suggests that the player should be aggressive, but I'm pretty sure that's not mandatory and you can be more passive if you'd like. The small budget becomes obvious with the repeated enemies and the sort of lackluster levels, but it never really bothered me because a) they didn't phone it in with the artstyle and art direction, b) the combat is fresh and polished, and c) smaller budgets shouldn't be held against game studios. The music is surprisingly good -- maybe even great. The story is cool and neat. This is a good game. OverBorder Studio did a great job.
