It's an easy recommend for free, but even when it was $20 US I considered it worth it. There's zero online population, though, so you'll have to bring your own friends. One or two will get you through most of the game, but if you want to survive the last few levels you'll need at least three.

Fun game to play with friends. Can easily be played with friends or solo. There is a good number of deeper mechanic like using heavy calibre to penetrate walls to kill people and such. Fighting into houses suck but the gunplay otherwise is very nice. Also they gave you back the money if you spent the money on it, when they made the game free to play

What happened to this game? I'll explain it from my pov. The game at launch was awesome, it was really fun. To me it kinda felt like it had potential to be a top down "tarkov" game and I loved it. It still is fun to some extent now tbh. Fun PvE and fun PvP, BUT... everything was too short at launch. Short campaign (8 missions or so that were like 20 mins each without any replayability), few maps, few rewards, gun balance issues on PvP and no modding tools at launch because they were delayed (which they said would be released at launch).... The game quickly ran out of content at launch and people were asking the devs what they were planning with the game and they were never really willing to share any informations or any kind of "roadmaps" with the community. They kept relatively quiet on this front other than saying they were working on modding tools (which took a few months to actually release after the launch) and people got upset with them for not sharing anything else. As if they had no plans at all. It quickly soured the community because most players started thinking that all they wanted was for modders to take over and make content for the game instead of them actually doing content once the modding tools would be released and that they'd abandon the game after. By the time they had released the modding tools, most of the community that played the game had moved on to other games. It took them too long to release the tools. After that people kept asking whats the futur of the game and even with the playerbase dwindling very quickly, the devs kept absolutely quiet on their plans. As if it was a state secret or whatever. For the remaining few people that played the game at that point, when they saw there was nothing to look for, they also started to leave the game. There was essentially no one playing the game anymore after a few months. It was eventually announced that the devs would stop developping/working on the game. Officially leaving it as is (AKA abandoning it) and making it "dead game". Theres no updates anymore, barely anyone plays this anymore and its a very short game. I believe if I remember right, you can beat the game within 3 hours if you're quick enough. I also believe the devs are still hanging around. Now, they have decided to make the game F2P for everyone and to their credit, they are offering refunds to everyone who purchased the game, which is awesome. Atleast we can get our money back. Considering it is F2P now, id say you can play the short campaign, have a good time and then move on to other things too. It's not a bad game, it's fun. It's just abandoned and dead. And when I say "abandoned", I dont mean its not finished. The game is fully playable. I just mean theres no more updates, DLC or planned content from the devs. With the game being F2P in mind now, even though the game has a poor history, I can "somewhat" recommend it. If the game still had a pricetag though, I would absolutely not recommend it. But now that its F2P, I can recommend it. Its fun, it works and I guess you can mod it if you want. Just know that theres no official support from the devs anymore. So you get what you see.

Respect for the developer / publisher refunding on discontinuing official support & going F2P. Had some interesting ideas with the Workshop support and customisation which might still make community driven modding possible. Real shame what happened to this. Love similar top-down shooter games like Foxhole & Running With Rifles.
