I'm conflicted. It has a good story, especially since I love the Three Kingdom tales and the games surrounding it. But I can't stand the control mechanism. It feels like I went back in time and I'm playing on the PS one instead of a updated PC with control mechanism that make combat efficient and more practical. It takes some getting used to - especially with the current trend of games and the graphics are nice and not bad. I almost feel that maybe this game would do better with a controller instead of a keyboard. All-in-all not too bad. There are some random places where the original language still pops up so you have no idea what's being sad unless you are efficient in Chinese. Also, you can't fully skip dialogue and the pauses are a bit annoying. It's definitely a blast of the past, just not sure it's a good kind. If you get past the nuances, it's worth playing for the storyline if nothing else.

The game was enjoyable. It has a Dynasty Warriors vibe combined with gameplay similar to Titan Quest—basically, the types of games that I love. The game is rather unpolished. It has quite a number of bugs, though none were game-breaking, at least during my gameplay, and I achieved 100% of the achievements. I could play the game with the XBOX controller, but you have to plug it in before starting the game; otherwise, it won't work. The story is rather linear, and there are no side quests, though you can move around and grind for levels and materials if you want. The English translation for the main story is mostly complete, with bits and pieces still untranslated. The UI can be rather clunky... Overall, I'd recommend getting this during sales. Probably a 6/10 at this stage.

Three Kingdoms Zhao Yun is... honestly I don't blame the reviews for being Mixed (66%) when I write this, because I have somewhat mixed feelings about it as well. On one hand, it's a fun Three Kingdoms-based ARPG with a solid plotline (of course! it's based on the Three Kingdoms XD) and some interesting twists on the normal combat of the genre such that you can knock enemies out of attacks and be knocked out of your own attacks in turn, and you can dodge and parry enemy attacks both. On the other, it's a bit easy even on Hard except when some of the bosses show up, the game just kind of stops after the Battle of Changban without resolving too much (though, of course, it probably proceeds mostly like the Three Kingdoms, so that's not too much of a cliffhanger...), and the English translation consistently varies between passable and godawful. Very recommended if you are a Three Kingdoms fan who doesn't mind games that are on the more unpolished side, but if you aren't a big fan of the stories of that period, or your tolerance for brokenness and jank in games is low, you should probably skip this.

I really enjoyed how the story was presented kept me interested all game. The combat was fun specially on the horse back. The big battles are amazing and satisfying. I totally ignored the crafting system didn't need it.Despite a few bugs here and there I would say this game is a hidden gem.

A good game. These are the pros and cons: Pros: - The combat system is very good. I actually prefer the combat in this game than Diablo 4. - The music is very good - It's nice to be able to play as Zhao Yun, a much loved and respected historical figure in the Chinese culture.\ - The artistic direction is good and the arts are beautiful. - For the price, the game offers decent amount of content. It takes about 20 hours to finish the main campaign. Cons: - The city designs feel under cooked. There is no side quest and the only NPC you can talk to in cities and towns are the merchants. As a result, even though some of the cities are very large, but they feel empty. - Although the game did not crash on me, but it suffers from occassional frame rate drops. - The story ends abruptly in the middle and it is unfinished. I guess the developers were supposed to make part 2. However rumors said the studio has disbanded, so this particular rendition of Zhao Yun's story will always remain unfinished, which is a shame. - I don't think the game has much replayability. But that is ok because this game is not expensive and it packs 20 hours of content into it. So you are likely to get your money's worth anyway. Overall a good game. I give it an 7.5 out of 10.
