An incredibly atmospheric and incredibly challenging platformer about a girl posessed by a cursed book. I'm not sure what kind of pianist you have to be to complete this game, but I still recommend you give it a try. At least for the soundtrack and how it fits into the gameplay and levels.

Quite fun, and super snappy controls, but game speed is linked to framerate so make sure to set your refresh rate to 60Hz before playing.

incredibly punishing game, however the art style and music are absolutely on point. the controls feel very snappy and responsive and getting a good combo going feels incredibly satisfying.

Just beat They Bleed Pixels on Standard Difficulty feels like my hands just aged 12 years my final verdict on the game is that it is a more than healthy challenge (Theres no good reason that the kick should share the same button as the stab attack, but whatevs) thats oddly relaxing, perhaps due to the music

One of the coolest indie games I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing. At first I thought it’d be too overwhelming for me, both difficulty and setting-wise. Yet 70 hours later not only did I get all 150 achievements, I also felt inspired to go try harder challenges in my other platforming favorites too. It is a difficult game for sure, but not as unapproachable as the descriptions or first few hours might suggest; there’s actually a lot of very smart design decisions to keep the challenge fair. For example, the need to charge up and place your own checkpoints might look like an extra limitation at first, but in practice it’s a helpful system that can be used to split the levels in your own personalized, manageable chunks. It also effectively allows you to carry around a "health item" in case of emergency, since creating a checkpoint restores hearts. The combat is totally badass: you can air juggle enemies, do midair slow-mo combos on them, push them onto hazards, or even all of the above one after another, and it all somehow looks more stylish than many high-budget 3D slashers (they really do bleed juicy red pixels all over the place). The platforming is very involved too, giving you a big double jump and generous wall movements right away but expecting a lot of fine maneuvering in return. What’s more, the game combines platforming and combat very organically, frequently making them work in unison instead of just alternating between jumping/fighting rooms. Getting hit midair by pesky flying enemies as you try to do some precise jumping can feel frustrating, but it is not random, and usually hints at the need to find some safer way to get rid of them first. Each level has 6 achievements associated with it, giving you 4 different ways to challenge yourself on top of a regular clear: collectibles, deathless, high rank and speedrun. All of those are well-balanced and can be alternated as needed for a more varied experience, while a helpful leaderboards system where everyone’s replay can be watched should provide plenty of reference. Getting an S rank can get tricky, as the speed at which you lose your combo meter is ruthless, but even here some useful tricks can be learned, like moving on to the next enemy even as the previous one still falls to its gory spiky doom. Thank you for making this, Spooky Squid Games; it was an absolute blast to play it.
