I love this kind of game, I got it as soon as it came out for 3 euros and it was a super good 15h. The style is detailed and well edited with also many nice and creative interactions. I got all the trophies, so I will go into detail with this review. The game has 3 distinct stages: 1 - Experiment with ingredients, you don't know everything you have yet so a lot of quests will fail and you will try to give the best you have; 2 - Once you have the full cookbook you focus much more on the quests and how to solve them normally, maybe even with some nice jokes; 3 - You get serious, and start to study well the relationships between characters and possible outcomes with endings attached. You will most likely try other effects as well. The game works, it even does it well, but you can see that it is a very inspired first experience. I very much hope for its next update and a future sequel derived from the opinions given on the server. Kudos also to the devs very good at taking criticism and willing to dialogue for bugfixes and improvements. You are on the right track for a great future for Harvey Games!

Don't be deceived by its presentation. This is not actually a potion/alchemy game, nor is it particularly a witch simulator (what is, honestly.) It's a puzzle game, the puzzle itself figuring out what the ideal course of action is per random story event so that a run can go smoothly as you fight against two gauges that must be balanced but only seem to serve as an artificial way to prematurely end a run. As a result, it's very repetitious as you find yourself fail to progress a story on one run, or accidentally progress when you didn't mean to on another, while you aim for certain endings. I sound dismissive because I don't really like this sort of system when I encounter it out in the wild. If you want to tell me a story, tell me a story. Don't make me beg, grind, and sacrifice a goat for it, but it's perfectly inoffensive in this. Nearly four hours in, I was still discovering different branches for both small and big side plots. It seemingly never gets old to conceive the most evil method of dealing with someone and hearing the witch cackle as the person leaves your little camp with the potion in hand. There's apparently a demo which I never saw because it's not listed as a demo on the store page for this. It's sequestered as its own "prologue" store item, which is something I hate for specifically this reason. I assume if you're on the fence, you can just play that, since the gameplay doesn't really change as you progress. You get a few new outfits, you obviously glean more specific potions, and eventually the ability to spread rumors, which can help keep gauges at manageable levels to avoid ending a run too early. I see many people suggest buying this on sale, but I bought it at full price and don't particularly regret it. The presentation is surprisingly well animated. I love the smoke effects of the cauldron itself. It's also, despite being a roguelike in the loosest sense, not stressful to play, doesn't require keeping spreadsheets, and mechanically, you're given the option to click and drag ingredients into the cauldron or simply click them (it's a double click normally but if you have a controller plugged in [you don't need to use it], a relaxing single click will do) which is welcomed if you have hand problems. There is a promise of future content updates, but the game as it is fine, and I don’t think you should hold out on a purchase just to wait for them.

Very pleasant visual style and music. Annoying 30fps animation of the cauldron flame and steam. Very often requests are not clear enough to understand what people want from you. You need a guide, because potion choices are not logical.

Nice and fun game, relaxing and entertaining at the same time. Interesting approach that game itself is not taking long, but a lot of variations present giving different endings.
