What a wonderful gem! I thought it was going to be a nice 3 hour indie game, but it turned into a 17 hours fable that puts many AAA games to shame. Don't miss.

The Vanishing of Olimar Buzz Buzz "Ok, hear me out; what if you combined Pikmin , Earthbound and Stranger Things into one super awesome game?" "Nah, that's crazy. No one could pull it off!" Moonlight Kids pulls it off "Holy crap.... they actually pulled it off! "

I've just finished the game and it's 2.30 am so would say it's quite addicting. The story is captivating and the characters are absolutely adorable. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for a fun game that is not too complicated but still insanely entertaining.

Average Medtroidvania with Pikmin mechanics. Drudgery and corporate mediocrity are represented: constant mob respawns, junk collection/crafting, console save system on a PC... Saves only occur at campfires, and then there's no Load menu in game. I'll mock the GUI side of it, but I'll praise the multiple autosaves, useful, if barely. With the exception of bombs, needed to open paths, crafted items are useless; consumable with a short effect, they don't justify the effort. Combat is a joyless grind with poor aiming and indecisive pikmins. Pathfinding is weak: pikmins get stuck, disappear, or even die in all kinds of places. They don't follow you unless you touch them, and even then they keep vanishing, annoyingly so. The worst feature is a day/night cycle, extremely short, with a deadly night that forces you to backtrack to camp. It interrupts exploration constantly, and it brings nothing of value in return. No option to disable it. At camp, there is a prompt to wait for nightfall, useful a couple of times at best, yet no prompt to wait for sunrise, which would be useful nearly every time. Go figure. Instead, you either spend minutes away from the PC, or you go to in-game sleep then menially restore all your pickmin stacks each morning. Alright, it's frustrating but it doesn't ruin the game. Death is punished by a wasteful grind to restock your pikmins. I recommend you upgrade your HPs first; that way you can survive contact when a night killer appears randomly right on top of you. Also, do the bounties first, as the final reward will give you opportunities to escape when, working on puzzles, you have no way back to camp. Finally, you might want to complete the story as early as possible, and only then hunt for collectibles, with no more trouble at night. Exploration itself is decent, with a fair number of paths to open or discover. Puzzles are easy, as kids-friendly as the narrative. Secret locations are tricky enough, some special actions/rewards much trickier indeed. The world is well sized, not too large, with fast travel portals in most areas. The map and related features are perfect, allowing either self-discovery or purchase from an NPC. It lets you place your own markers, which is always a great feature to have. If you want enjoyable pikmin mechanics, Tinykin is much better and smoother, with the added bonus of having no combat. If a Metroidvania, this one is good enough despite its timers and crafting, with the added bonus of not being weighed down by trite boss fights: there's only one, and it's easy.
