As is often the case with series, it's hard to fully understand the whole story from just one installment. And once you've played one, it often becomes irresistible to dive into the rest.

This was a nice, albeit angsty game. The puzzles aren't too developed but they don't guide you either. Finding out little bits and pieces about the narrator was very engaging, although the chronology, the why and the how, still seem confusing, but maybe that's the point the authors wished to make. The illustration of the topics of death, memory loss, and mental illness are very originally illustrated and paired with the music and cartoonish design, it becomes a well rounded game. If you're looking for a short yet mysterious puzzle game, this one is for you!

It is a bit different from the typical Rusty Lake games, but it adds to the story and it gives us the player a different perspective on things. Allowing us to piece together or understand some of the story's events. The puzzle are slightly less difficult than in other games but it makes up for that with the amount of lore you get from this one. It is also slightly shorter but not significantly enough to be upset about the content. I'd even say its a bit like an interactive comic book, with the point and click puzzle elements we've come to know from Rusty Lake. Something I liked about this one is that even if it is set in a mystery universe where things are not quite as they seem, you can sense some humanity in Robert's experience. Maybe even somewhat relatable. Allowing the player to empathize with him during this chapter. If you have played others in the series, this is definitely a must. The White Door is an interesting title from Rusty Lake, with a bit of a different structure than previous titles. You play the day to day life of Robert Hill, finding out that something feels... off? The story ties together with previous games, per usual, and gives some insight to what connection Robert has to those. The gameplay is similiar to previous games as well - puzzles, hints found in various places and progression through various areas. The only new gimmick is the Day to Day progression, which does make the game more interesting. I liked this game, some parts felt like it was inspired especially by Twin Peaks season 3 (won't say more than that). I definitely recommend it for fans of the Rusty Lake games!
