Full disclosure I got it for 8 bucks. For 8 bucks its pretty good. Its got an okay story, easy pick up grind and die mechanics. Rougelike for sure as each map is slightly random. There's a time loop element so be ready for long quest grinds. Competent, is how i'd describe it. Easy like fast food.

Honestly, really solid for a release but like all games, needs work and updates. Unfortunately, the devs kind of dont exist anymore and as such it might be stuck on this version for the forseeable future. Highly recommended to get on sale or something to try out if you like roguelikes and necromancy but unless it gets an update to fix the mob ai or add workshop support so other people can fix the game, dont get at full price.

i always forget how cool this game is until i start playing it again. it's a really rad game, i love the designs of the undead and all their unique tricks for each different version. some could call it repetitive or tedious at times but when have you played a rouge-like where you didn't have to improve by play over and over to win. great game, also kind of a power trip.

Love the gameplay concept/loop. Dialogue is a bit corny. Instructions were hard to understand. There's quite a bit to unlock though. Overall not bad not great.

TL;DR game's not bad at all, worth it especially if on sale. I can certainly understand why this game has mixed reviews. It's got its ups and downs. The main gripe in most negative reviews is the "bad AI" but honestly after many runs that's hardly been an issue. The "AI" relies on player commands to function, and functions fine. My biggest issue has been often running into terrible stuttering after reaching the third area. Finishing or getting killed doesn't reset this stuttering, and instead is only fixed after exiting the game and restarting (thankfully I was able to continue from the beginning of area 3 or 4 after restarting). Besides that, some odd sounds bugs and a somewhat lacking UX, particularly in terms of spells and runes, but far from egregious - just lacking. Other than that though, the game has a very good aesthetic, I like the combat and spells functionality, the characters and story feel compelling enough and as a rogue-lite I believe it does it's job pretty well. I'm going to give this game the benefit of the doubt in terms of the stuttering because I can't see other people having that problem. Having bought it at almost half price I am confident in saying it's a good purchase so it's a thumbs up.
