It's a good game. I think it's pretty original and fun. I thought the final boss was easier than Cardinal.

Textorcist - A typing game whilst also being a bullet hell. If you’ve ever wanted to battle demons while typing like your life depends on it, "The Textorcist" is your game! It’s a chaotic blend of keyboard smashing and ghostly exorcisms that had me laughing and sweating in equal measure. Who knew saving souls could be so hilariously intense? I have to admit, it got insanely difficult in the later parts of the game. So much so, that I invited my brother over to help me complete the game. I was busy typing while he was busy dodging. We'd have a shot of alcohol every time we'd die. After a couple of deaths, we were thinking this game was the funniest thing since Poop in my Soup.

Fun Fact: Pecentagewise it is more common to get all achievements in Elden Ring than to make it to the final boss of this game.

Introduction Let me begin by expressing that this game is incredibly challenging (and I loathe resorting to the term 'unplayable'). As you progress further, securing a full combo or even a 100-word combo becomes uncertain unless you exert considerable effort. The controls, which demand constant typing, are incredibly demanding – a fitting challenge for a bullet hell game. Adding to the complexity, movement requires holding down the shift key, introducing a significant risk factor. Accidental fast typing can swiftly break your combo, unless luck intervenes. It seems this game is tailor-made for players akin to demons, requiring three arms to master – two for typing and one for maneuvering. The developers clearly envisioned this level of intensity and challenge, ensuring players experience it fully as they advance through the game. Narrative Now that we've tackled the intricacies of the controls, let's explore some of the game's bright spots and uplifting aspects. The storytelling shines with a wholesome and captivating narrative, effectively drawing players in and maintaining their interest. Additionally, the dialogue adds a touch of humor, a noteworthy feat for a game centered around combating evil in a Christian context. I particularly admire how the protagonist initially appears as a conventional exorcist, presumed to be the epitome of purity. However, the creators cleverly subvert this expectation, infusing the character with unexpected profanity that elicited genuine laughter from me. It's remarkable how even minor details like these can contribute to the game's overall positive atmosphere. Climax Although the story mode offers some replay value, the hardcore mode presents an entirely distinct and self-explanatory challenge. As I progressed from defeating easier foes to confronting tougher adversaries, engaging in such focused and hardcore gameplay proved exceedingly difficult; there was no room for mercy. Not only were enemies constantly hurling bullets, but my own mistakes and frequent mistyping, even during basic movement, added to the challenge. Pursuing the "hardcore" ending seemed daunting – a feat I, like many others, may not have had the determination to achieve, especially given the difficulty of reading the game's font. Ultimately, the game proved unforgiving, demanding full determination to navigate the keyboard, a task made even more daunting by the question of whether to dedicate one hand solely to typing – truly an outlandish concept. Music I'd like to highlight another aspect of this game that I particularly enjoy revisiting: the music or OST. It's truly remarkable how the retro-inspired synth-wave enhances the overall experience. I absolutely love how certain darksynth tracks perfectly complement the intense battles encountered throughout the game. It's a feature that demands admiration and adds an undeniable badass vibe to the gameplay. Should you play it? So, what are my thoughts on whether anyone should recommend giving this game a try? Ultimately, the decision rests with you. If you have a penchant for bullet-hell challenges and don't shy away from a bit of pain, if you're adept at typing and possess knowledge of biblical scripts, or if you're simply skilled at facing constant defeat, then this game might just be your cup of tea.

Tl;dr: The Textorcist is a unique, beautiful game with its mixed genres and startling atmosphere. If you are interested in bullet hell games, this might be a refreshing game for you. I am pretty amazed by the unique genre mix done by the game, and I wish I had found it before. It definitely was a frustrating experience at first, but the theme of the game was so interesting that I kept challenging myself to progress in the game. Alongside the unique genre mix, I believe the developers picked one of the most interesting themes that would fit such a gameplay. It definitely is fun to send demons back to hell by launching holy words at them. In terms of gameplay, I can say that it is pretty hard to both check the bullets on the screen and also type words at the same time. It creates a problem where you miss both sides at a rate unless you can proficiently move and type at the same time. If the idea of the game excites you, you probably are someone who can handle the difficulty it offers, and the game indeed is difficult. Although Textorcist is pretty hard due to its nature, there is an equipment system in the game that you can utilize to make the game harder or easier with some tradeoffs. If you wish to make the game harder, you can pick certain late-game equipment to increase the difficulty of the game with an increase in the score multiplier. The opposite can also be done starting from the beginning of the game. I believe The Textorcist handles difficult boss fights pretty well for players from different skill levels with this system. The game has an interesting plot, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. If you are more interested in fighting bosses, there is also an option to skip the dialogues, and even a separate game mode to defeat bosses one after another. The only thing I did not like about the progression of the game is that there are certain sections where you can't skip directly to action, and they only consist of you looking around on the map and interacting with stuff. Finally, The Textorcist has one of the best pixel art styles I have encountered in a game. I truly am amazed, and I enjoyed every bit of it. With the addition of the atmosphere and the music, the art is even more emphasized, resulting in beautiful scenery. Overall, if the genre of the game excites you, go for it, you won't be disappointed. If you are just interested in the theme and not good at bullet hell games, you can still try the game and challenge yourself for some time to see if you can handle it.
