Yes but only for the trip. Some reviews compare it to a walking simulator, but i disagree as after the first third of the game, it turns into a weird attempt at an FPS. I will be honest, this does not work well, and will be frustrating, But the game itself isn't that expensive, and the atmosphere it creates does work. I am glad I played it, but it is no masterpiece, If you are fine with that, you may give it a go.

The visual and sound design of this game is rock solid. Some very cool stuff. Unfortunately, the addition of late game combat and some janky restrictions on travel (Invisible walls) reduce the quality of the experience. Additionally, though this is a personal gripe, it also feels like the creators stuck every element of Lovecraft they could find into The Shore without considering the atmosphere or qualities of Cosmic/Weird Horror outside of "big monster" (Though as stated, such monsters are beautifully designed.) It has some really fun ideas and art, but ultimately falls apart due to some strange decisions. Buy on a sale and be ready to be patient.

Recommended only with heavy caveats. I absolutely love a good horror walking simulator. It's like a haunted house: immersive atmosphere + light scares + few frustrations = pure thrills. I started out thoroughly enjoying the atmosphere, from the beautifully desolate shoreline to the lonely, mangled skeletons, to the creepy ritual sites. Then about halfway through they introduced some clunky combat mechanics (being able to beat the spawn of eldritch horrors, for me, defeats half the horror of eldritch horrors) and I started just wanting to be done with this BS so I didn't have to go through it again. Dying over and over because you're not sure where to go for the next warp, which monsters are killable and which aren't, or you're getting stuck on the scenery is not fun. A few of the load-points are really freaking far back too. Fortunately the game is short enough to push through. Go in for the atmosphere, but don't be surprised to find yourself flipping to a walkthrough before the end.

Putting aside the clunky mechanics and awkward movement, this game is incredible. Reminiscent of old explorer games such as Myst or Riven, it feels more like an art project than a game, and offers beautifully designed assets, a rich and compelling narrative, and an environment and atmosphere that rivals that of AAA games. I remember after first playing, I had to sit down for an hour and just process everything I had experienced - it remains to this day the only game that has had that profound of an effect on me. I find myself wishing to play it again for the first time, to feel that unparalleled and unique Lovecraftian atmosphere. Almost every minute of the 3 hours it took to complete was interesting in some way, which for a heavily visual-focused game is quite impressive. My only complaint is that I found some of the puzzles to be frustratingly unintuitive - having to google walkthroughs on some sections, but overall it is a masterpiece of environment art, accompanied with a beautifully written story.

"The Shore" offers a chilling Lovecraftian experience, blending stunning visuals with a gripping narrative. Ares Dragonis crafts a haunting island filled with cosmic horrors, where exploration and survival seamlessly converge. The atmospheric sound design, coupled with a compelling story and challenging puzzles, creates an immersive experience. While not catering to jump-scare enthusiasts, its slow pace rewards those who appreciate atmospheric horror. In summary, it's a visually striking and emotionally resonant journey that leaves a lasting impact, making it a must-play for horror aficionados
