April 2026
While I do recommend this game, I'm going to rip it a new one with the listed "Mature Content Warning" from the devs, as it is absolutely incorrect, untruthful and misleading. The following content can be triggering, but i'm calling the dev out on their BS. [quote=Rare Reversee] Sexual Content: Our horror game does not contain depictions of sexual acts, nor does it touch upon topics of sexual assault or non-consensual sex. The narrative focuses on horror elements that are separate from any sexual themes. Absolutely untruthful. There is an entire section suggesting that the father was propositioned to have his daughter's body sold to a debt collector for an evening to pay off debts. As the game says in conversation, "Let me borrow your daughter for one night and we'll consider your debts repaid." Now, whether or not the father allowed that is not specified, but it is a clear example of potential sexual assault and non-consensual sex on a minor. [quote=Rare Reversee] Drug and Alcohol Abuse: There are no depictions or narratives surrounding drug and alcohol abuse in our game. Again, this is severely misleading as the father is an alcoholic and goes into alcoholic physical abusive rages against his wife and son. There is even a section where the father is driving their motorbike with the wife riding on the back and he is clearly quite drunk, verbally abusing her, and swerving in and out of traffic erratically. [quote=Rare Reversee] Self-harm: We have taken care to avoid sensitive topics such as self-harm, and it is not present or implied within our storyline. Lastly, completely false. The daughter dies from suicide by hanging. There are multiple depictions of nooses and hanging ropes. All pretty apparent and not to be interpreted in any other fashion besides suicide. I would urge the developer to amend their Mature Content Warning to be accurate and not misleading. That being said, here's my review of the game... PROS: * Intriguing storyline * Creative puzzles (though the word chain puzzle makes zero sense to English speakers. You'll need to look this one up to get past it * Amazing sound design creating a creepy atmosphere * Beautiful graphics * Controller friendly! * You can turn Motion Blur off (yay) * Monsters/antagonists are creepy, but I wish you had more interactions with them CONS: * Not as spooky as I hoped. * Dialogue autoscrolls, which is not helpful for us slow readers. * There is one puzzle reliant on colors, which is not accessible to those that are colorblind * Falsifying Mature Content Warning: Once I realized the Devs were BSing their Mature Content Warning I got a miffed and that put a damper on my immersive experience with the game. Not that anything bothered me personally in the game, but I just don't like falsification of information for other players. * The endings didn't make a lot of sense. I got 2 of the 3 endings, and I'm still confused on exactly what happened and what was resolved/unresolved. https://www.seravium.com https://twitch.tv/seravium

Game khá hay, cốt truyện thú vị, thời lượng chơi vừa đủ cho một tựa game kinh dị, mong nhà phát triển tiếp tục phát triển những sản phẩm tiềm năng hơn trong tương lai

I have played various folk horror games made by small independent ("indie") studios from Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan and Viet Nam.But I really think "Tai Ương" (the scourge) is one of the best I have ever seen. For an indie game, it has really high production values and is very polished, well crafted. The puzzles are interesting but not too hard or random. There are no cheap repetitive jumpscares, instead of that the game rather relies on its creepy atmosphere. When they happen, the jumpscares are well thought and really scary. The graphics and environments look great. They are always realistic and authentic. I you are Vietnamese (especially from Sai Gon) and grew up in Vietnam, or you are an overseas Vietnamese (Việt kiều) from the diaspora, or if you are a foreigner who is interested in Viet Nam and lived there, you will feel some nostalgia and you will enjoy how carefully the developpers included many details from daily life, culture and traditions of local people. And so it will help you feel more immersed in the game, and you will feel closer to the main character, as I did. You will enter a room and think "This look like my aunt's kitchen" or "this look like my uncle's apartment". The "less pleasant" places of Sai Gon and the darker sides of Vietnamese society and culture are also explored. I haven't finished the game yet but I already hope the team will keep making more games like this. Game này tốt. Anh cảm ơn mọi người rất nhiều và chúc may mắn.

I’ve finished the game—multiple endings, every achievement unlocked—and honestly, I’m still left with more questions than answers. I can’t quite figure out what story or message the game is trying to convey. It feels like there are pieces missing, or maybe it’s intentionally vague, but either way, it didn’t fully land for me. What was the little sister actually trying to tell us? And that situation with the dad’s friend… was there something more going on there, or was it just left ambiguous on purpose? Huh

+ Very good art style and story telling + Stunning visual + Above average puzzles - Boss gameplay is very frustrated, too hard for casual gamer - Voiceover is subjectively not immersive - Game performance is not fully optimized A remarkable horror gem from Vietnam, every element, from its haunting storytelling to its stunning visuals, is beautifully crafted. The final chapter is still in the making
