This is the most in-depth political simulator you will find on Steam. I have over 1,000+ hours, and I can tell you that if you're into the political process such as detailed elections, campaigning, metrics, legislation, and just about anything you can think of, this game is for you. If you're looking to buy this game, be aware that it takes some getting used to. There's a lot of things to get used to, and many different options such as custom events, customizing elections, fundraising, campaign events, scandals, writing legislation, etc. I can't say enough good things about this game, and on top of this, the developer is very good at listening to feedback and adding requested features.

This is potentially going to be known as the best political simulator ever! While it is still a new game, there is infinite possibilities. I love this game and probably play it well more than I care to admit. I have been a MAGA republican, a Bernie-crat, a moderate democrat and a moderate republican from different states and loved every moment of it. I hope more updates come because I would love nothing more than to see this game in its full potential! If I had to include 2 things on my wish list it would be: - Allow me to become VP or a cabinet member, and leverage that for an endorsement for executive branches - Allow the states to vote on legislations regarding elections in their constitution (i.e. term limits, funding, etc.) Oh and my wife was elected President (2) terms even after I could not win the nomination myself, which was pretty funny.

This is actually a brilliant game. I’ve been looking for a game like this for years and it’s awesome to finally have one. The only downside in my opinion is the lack of political options and actions. It’s primarily elections and legislation, which is great. But I’d love to see some expansion into other political roles like Secretary of State, or foreign relations when President etc. It would also be awesome to see some different political systems/nations added to the game one day. Perhaps as DLCs? But yeah, it’s a good game!

Nice simulator of County/State/US politics, pretty well rounded and only getting better. Also has a lot of value in just messing around; getting a Very Liberal Senator for Oklahoma or a Very Conservative Senator for New York is always fun.

For context: I'm a political scientist by training (PhD), specializing in American politics. This game is really good, and it does a decent job of capturing a lot of the complexity of politics and government. The graphics aren't spectacular but for this kind of game they don't need to be. Dealing with legislation can get pretty complicated and if you're a policy nerd you'll definitely enjoy the depth there. However, my one big complaint is that the election/public opinion model is fundamentally wrong. When you start a game, you answer a series of policy questions about your character. When you run for office, your policy positions get compared to the policy positions of the voters, with certain positions being more important than others based on the office you're running for, and though you have some limited ability to influence public opinion through campaigning, for the most part public opinion is treated as independent and fixed in an election. The problem is that that isn't how public opinion works. The vast majority of people do not have anything like a political ideology, and they definitely don't have independent, nuanced, thought-out positions on a multitude of policy ideas as the game depicts. People choose their political affiliation based on their social identities and which identities are most important to them, and they adopt "liberal" or "conservative" as a social identity too, not a political ideology. They also adopt the policy positions of opinion leaders they associate with their chosen affiliation, but only at a very superficial level, such that any position that can claim would fit on a bumper sticker. Anything deeper than that and most people have nothing else to say, because they don't really understand what they're talking about in the first place. See a book called Democracy For Realists for more details on how this works. I wish the game's campaigning mechanic was more realistic in that sense. It seems like the game operates on a very, very idealized concept of how elections work, and it forces candidates to adapt their policy positions to those of the voters when that simply isn't how it works in real life. Policy can matter sometimes, to an extent, but for the most part elections are about which side can turn out more of their supporters, and that depends largely on emotion. All politics is emotion, and I'd like to see the game somehow reflect that over the current idealized policy-focused model.
