Dec. 2024
I bought this game for $7.49 during the Winter Sale and it was worth it. Fun game, good concept, interesting story. However, there are a few negatives: 1. Some of the puzzles are not intuitive at all. I spent at least 30 minutes trying to solve one puzzle and I eventually just brute forced it because there were no reasonable clues given 2. There are only autosaves. There was one point where it had been 20-30 minutes since my last save and the game crashed. That sucked. (It was at the color puzzle right before the achievement "That's a bit immoral" - which was also a puzzle without any real clues. This is not against the publishers, but a warning to those who play this: The walkthroughs on YouTube are out of date. Sometimes they match the puzzles in the game, sometimes they don't. However, overall this is a fun game. It has Half Life/Portal vibes in the best way.

One of the most interesting games. Strikingly odd. Kept me attentive.

A truly engaging game, original premise with elements of portal, half-life (Xen) and much more. I thoroughly enjoyed the puzzles and admittedly got lost and killed on a many occasions! This only added to the fun and intriguing nature of this game. One of the best games I've played recently, and an absorbing story line only added to the fun. I will play again and watch for DLC or more titles, great stuff!

I had fun, and the puzzles made me think. The universe is pretty cool, and I'd like to explore it further in other games. I am hugely in favor of any game that lets me read everybody's emails and these generally did not disappoint. The worlds felt rewarding to explore, and the mechanics were rewarding, too. I have a couple of warnings. Warning 1: The game is sometimes very ambiguous about what's important to look at, and I had to reach for a walkthrough twice (which I hate doing). Warning 2: There is a scary ghost guy that chases you through multiple segments of the game, and it's often difficult to understand what the game expects you to do until you've screwed up and died a few times -- or a LOT of times -- and this got frustrating on several occasions. That said, I never felt fully defenseless, unlike many other games with a "baddie you can't kill" element, and I think the game walks the line decently overall. On the other hand, I also have two gripes that really fought the immersion the game wanted to achieve. Gripe 1: The writing is lackluster, riddled with typos, grammatical errors, and non-sequitors, and it's often tonally odd for the purported speaker/writer/circumstances. Gripe 2, which is my biggest critique, is that the voice acting ranges from mediocre ( "The Shepherd" , as well as Alex, who's supposed to be a grown-up German scientist resurrected from cryosleep out of the 1940s but sounds and behaves like a whiny modern-day American 20-something) to spectacularly bad (everyone else), with the standout exception of Eugene's VA, who delivered a deeply convincing performance. No offense to the VA's, but some of the readings (especially Powell's opening lines (which made me laugh out loud, in the bad way) and the Shepherd's last few lines, and ... almost everything else from Powell, I guess ) were just mind-blowingly tone-deaf misreadings of what the script was obviously trying to convey. Overall, worth the price for a solid puzzle game that will get you thinking, but undercut in story/atmosphere terms by lack of polish in the writing and VA.

Relaxing, the most of puzzles are simple enough. Good for a few evenings. The shadow guy is made to be felt like the problem, than it actually is.
